Questions about Doran's Dagger and Rageblade

Hey,

I got a few questions about Doran's Dagger and Rageblade. I'd like to hear answers from Riot about Doran's Dagger starting item and Rageblade changes. I know they won't answer or give me at least some sort of discussion about it but I'll post it here anyway. I'm not sure if I'm posting this on the wrong board section. Let me know if I did, I'll post it elsewhere. I just hope this is the right topic board. Let's get into the topic, shall we?

  1. Doran's Dagger

I know it's too late to bring Doran's Dagger on the current state of this season, especially when season 9 is coming soon with lots of changes towards item tweak and runes reforged stat shift (That is if I'm correct..). But what happened to Doran's Dagger and why didn't you guys release the item on pre-season 8 when it was showcased. I heard Doran's Dagger was planned to come mid-season 8 after it got delayed. Is Doran's Dagger coming in season 9?

  1. Rageblade

This is a hard one to talk about. I don't know how it started but I think Rageblade got nerfed by increasing total cost. This made the item that has a terrible build path + huge total cost (1100g I think...). A huge deal of champions who relied on it, especially the jungle role. There was a few League of Legends Subreddit post talking about this item after the nerf of the total cost increase, including Cowsep and his opinion about Rageblade. The item tried to fulfill many roles at once by giving hybrid stats, rewarded for extended fights/stacking, and phantom hit. Cowsep didn't like it (Neither did Riot). Cowsep proposed that splitting the item into 2 different types is a right direction, just like how Tiamat is split into 2 items when building into Hydra/Titanic. The item was very strong on Yi due to stacking mechanics. Master Yi could have conqueror, bloodrazor, blade of the ruined king, wit's end, and Rageblade. Cowsep said that without stacks, Yi is very weak, but with stacks, he's was too strong. This created a huge problem of unhealthy pattern that Yi provided such as in a 1vs1 scenario there were only 2 outcomes (In most cases). Master Yi either failed to stack conqueror (on minions, or taking damage) or he could take down an entire team because of the amount of mixed damage he could provide. Another huge issue such as not having clarity about how much stacks Master Yi has during team fight/split-push was presented.

I'd like to know if any Rioter that balances items agree that it was unhealthy and had to rework the Rageblade because of this. I remember Meddler mentioned this that the item would get a lot of changes but only after the ADC changes on their crit items.

  1. Attack based users in general. You can ignore this if you want but it is related to champions who can utilise attack speed from Doran's Dagger and Rageblade.

I still don't know what's your direction with the champions who actually deals damage through basic attacks. Champions that I'm mostly referring to is Tryndamere, Yi and maybe Jax.

Yi and Tryndamere are the biggest ones in terms of gameplay. Their abilities and item are related to having huge attack speed and crit. Examples are Tryndamere's Q and Yi's E that enhances furthermore on their basic attack power. Items such as blade of the ruined king do the same too. Pretty much any item that has recurve bow item 1043 and it's upgraded components. I think this is the reason why Aatrox was reworked. He became strong with the Rageblade during e-sport matches.

Jax isn't a big issue to this topic due to his spells having weaving attacks like passive and W. His ultimate mostly scaled with AD and AP so he had to build around those stats to get tankier. He's a lot like Lucian, just without range and double shot passive.

Well that's really it. I know it's a lot but I'd really like to hear Riot's take on this one. I'll also add a poll about this archetype champions =)
