Taric Changes/Semi-Rework

Don't get me wrong it still kinda is but he's not as strong as really any of the other staple top lane fighters/tanks. He used to be one of the best top fighters IMO while still being semi tankish. Now with this whole “tank meta” I feel like taric would have an even better place in the current meta with the sustained fights and overall shift. With the past few major changes that took place, I feel as if they made him almost inviable in most cases.

Breakdown time:

Taric's passive (Gemcraft): The new changes to his passive are mediocre at best. The scaling at 20% just doesn't seem like it gives much of an umph with his lower than average scalings for his abilities and their semi-long cooldowns for mediocre abilities. A proposed change would to be either increase the scaling of it to 30% as it originally was when it was implemented or give his abilities better scaling/lower cooldowns (doesn’t seem well from a balance perspective since his passive lowers your cds on when you attack with Gemcraft active). Another possible change would to be give his old passive back, this being that he gets to deal 2% of maximum damage as magic damage and then doubles this against champions.

Taric's Q (Imbue): The changes to his heal are okay with the scaling with his 5% max health scaling but still with only 30% AP ratios and 140 mana at max level and only 220 health. This mana cost would make sense with his older passive giving you an incentive to build mana based items but with his changes it doesn't give you much room to branch off with builds. Comparably Nami has a heal at max level that heals for 185 (30% AP scaling) but deals 230 magic damage (50% AP scaling) for only 130 mana on a 10 second cd for all ranks. Possible changes could be a reduction in CDs or a better AP ratio scaling.

Taric’s W (Shatter): This ability was gutted right down. In its current state its on the low end of terrible. His scaling got destroyed and his base damage taken down. Originally this ability was 50 / 90 / 130 / 170 / 210 (60% AP scaling)(20% Armor scaling). In its current state it is 40 / 80 / 120 / 160 / 200 (+ 20% armor). This is a really severe nerf to Taric and another major blow to him as well as his passive changes. Possible changes could be better armor scaling/AP scaling. He doesn’t seem to do much in the perspective of damage with this spell. The only good part of this ability is the armor shred. This is a very good perspective in the support role as more damage for your ADC to deal damage as well as sustained fights but in roles like top or jungle all your spells deal magic damage and you have a relatively low base AD.

Taric’s E (Dazzle): The changes to his stun were relatively minimal other than the AP scaling. The ability as it stands is okay but CD could be a bit lower. Other than that the ability is fine as it stands.

Taric’s R (Radiance): The major changes to this ability was the AP scaling down from 75% to 50% and the increase of cd from 60 to 75 seconds. Overall the changes to his scaling were fine but I feel as if the cd changes really hurt him in lane and throughout the entirety of the game.

tl;dr I want some changes to Taric mainly based off of the changes made in the 3.03 and 3.04 patches but more balanced.

Don't worry. I'm sure the current rework that they have planned will nerf him.

In all seriousness though, I'm not sure how they're going to rework Taric, since his design is so old, and a lot of his abilities need changed quite significantly.
