my league divison

so i'm in silver 3 in a league division where everyone from silver 1-5 is recently joined this league, i've talked to 3 people that accepted my friend request and they also don't get matched with any silvers in their games. i've played 6 games so far after my placements and get 28-29lp per win and 13lp for the loss that i had. and every game i've played everyone is gold 4-5 and some are gold 3. on op.gg it say's i'm likely to raise 2 divisons. which i can see. also everyone in my league there is only 5 of us. if you were in my league you'd be scratching your head, cause i'll view my friends divison and their are like 30 or more people to scroll through but only 5 in mine.

is there a reason for this, or is this a divison for people that riot knows are smurfs or something and are bound to climb faster?

The "League" doesn't really matter; the name is for flair and the roster is just so you have a sense of how you're climbing. If there was only one League you could have tens to hundreds of thousands in it. Once a League fills up it just creates new ones as people are placed. That League will eventually fill up, but it's random and there's no indication that your MMR is a factor.

Particular specific instances of divisions/leagues ("Ahris destroyers" and so on) are entirely cosmetic and have no influence on anything. They're more or less randomly generated whenever one gets sortof full, and when you're promoted you're more likely to be placed into a league with people on your friends list, but there's no special traits particular to any league/division. If you happened to get a relatively empty one, it just means that particular instance of a league is relatively new.

Matchmaking itself is done soley by mmr, your specific league/division doesn't influence it at all, nor does your current rank.
