"Tank" Assassins

I'm sure you all have your own opinions already, however I feel the need to express my own. Know that I am not trying to take a shot at anyone nor demean anyone by this. This is strictly my opinion.

Tank assassins should not be relevant in any form of game play within League of Legends. The reason for this is because when you build an assassin tanky you remove the need for them to be everything that an assassin is at their core. Assassins are supposed to be risk-takers. Always have been. If you look at any game, movie, or story the assassin is always the one with a trick up their sleeve and light on their feet. They are not the ones wielding massive swords and shields. They do not wear plate armor into battle. They dance along the edges of the fight waiting for the opportune time to strike. When they do this properly they are rewarded with kills and gold. However with how the meta is going now most of the "assassins" that I am playing against use Resolve masteries and build straight tank items. What this does is eliminate the risk of an assassin. When there is no risk you are no longer an assassin. You're a fighter or bruiser. In League if you want to play something like that then play a champion that fits that role. We should not be CAPABLE of creating that style of fighter with an assassin based champion. For some reason Riot has setup ways for assassins to build tanky and get away with it. In my opinion they should either limit the access to items designed for tanks or make some restrictions as to how those items work on assassins.

I get playing tank Akali or Ekko can be fun from time to time, but it shouldn't be how they are played on a regular basis. There needs to be some clearer boundaries set as to how people can play each champion class. I love playing assassins as they should be played. High risk, high reward. Crazy burst damage and a clean getaway with nearly no health! Its a thrill.

Playing with and against these champions is taking some of the fun out of League for me, and I would like to know what you guys think. Agree or disagree is up to you! I have said my peace.

Honestly, tank assassins are some of the most annoying things, both in concept and in application. Not only do they get the win condition of outsustaining you, but they also have the ridiculous damage and mobility that comes with all assassins. Health is the most broken resource in League, since tanks of all sorts (intended or otherwise) can simply bypass tactical systems (team strategy, turrets, etc.) and simply get to enjoy destroying any given non/low-CC champion.

It's stupid that mostly every game ends up with some champion with a ridiculous amount of health and damage, making team fights much less of a fight so much as "Either we kill this guy or we pick off his teammates". I understand that having choices similar to this is important to games like League, but to allow a high health, high damage, and high mobility champion to totally change the entirity of a meta is a bit much.

Akali is SO HOT4/23/2016, 7:13:09 AM1 votes

The tank Akali hype train died a few patches ago, tank Ekko got nerfed, and tank Katarina just doesn't work. Bruiser Yi and Fiora both got nerfed with their itemization so those aren't really much of a thing anymore either. If you are losing to things like tank Akali or Kat then it's on you and not them.

Pure tank on Assassins is highly overrated and you have to be really bad to feed them. That is all.

Tank assassins are just as unfun as regular assassins. Just saying.

Tank assassins are less healthy, but not any less fun to play against. Actually, pretty sure I prefer them to glass cannon assassins.
