Best way is to try out different champions when they appear on free rotation.

What may be very enjoyable for me to play may end up being unenjoyable for you to play.

Yeah this is a good idea. Honestly it comes down to whether you enjoy playing the champion over and over and over. If you aren't tired of the kit after 2-3 games in a row and still think he/she/it's fun then you have found your champion(s).
