People who never played rank

Please for the love of god riot, just start new accounts off at bronze 5 and have them win / lose up the elo tree from there. Stop placing them in silver & having them ruin everyone's game. If you system is actually about placing people fairly, then they would start at the bottom and work their way up. If they deserved the rank of silver, they would win all their game, if they didn't they would be in bronze. Starting new accounts at silver is bad for three reasons:

  • You ruin everyone who is silver's experience because then they aren't ACTUALLY playing against people their rank

  • You create a disproportionate amount of games that aren't based on skill, and going through low silver is actually about getting lucky.

  • Most people who are higher elo want to start bronze 5 anyway. Tons of people who are high elo want to play their way from b5 to plat for their twitch streams, and if they are actually plat, they will be out of bronze in placements by winning all 10 games.

It's really horrible to get all the way to silver from bronze and then be stuck in a game of chance where every game is a gamble on if i will win or lose solely based on teammates who it is better if they simply AFKd (IE: I just got out of a game where a fiddle had 18 farm at 20 minutes, was 4 levels behind, and fed the entire game every time he 'ganked' which means he feared them, drained for 2 seconds, and ran away.)

This type of thing is why i like playing in bronze to begin with because when i play in bronze i don't have as high as risk playing a game of 'will i be stuck with the new player who can't even play the role they picked ?'

Just because every other game starts ppl at mid - low range doesn't mean its healthy for league. Esp since league is a 20 minutes to 60 minute game and it ruins people's experience. Also it's infuriating that new players can lose 8/10 games and be placed silver when they actually don't know how to play. Stuff like that is just not a true gauge of skill.

So seriously, just start them at bronze 5 and let the ranking system work by modifying it from bronze 5. If you insist on leaving them in silver, you shouldn't punish everyone in the game just because they got the short end of the stick.

And besides that, you have remakes right ? The new players who just decide they wanna play ranked and don't know how to play are WORSE than a 4 person game. Why would you make a remake feature if you are also going to make it so that we are still stuck with these people who may not be intentionally feeding but they really ARE feeding and their skill is so bad, its not different from intentional feed.

I don't blame the new players, they don't get a choice but to play in ranked and they don't get the option to be a lower bronze or higher silver when they start. I blame your system which is actually ruining the overall experience. I am FINE losing if everyone is my elo, but seeing someone who is unranked, outright says they don't know how to play a role, says they are new, and then feeds the entire game and can't even maintain the same level as the other players. Thats when it is infuriating. They don't even have a chance to do well & everyone wants to know their placement in ranked.

Stop punishing your 'lower ranking' players just because we aren't LCS. We pay for stuff in the game and want to play it fair and equally just as much as your plat, diamond, and challenger players.

The reason they have mid silver MMR is because, wait for it, that is where the average skill level is. If you're S4 right now, you are an average league player. You cant assume a player just starting ranked is the worst league player ever, so it is only fair that they are given the MMR of the average player. Then if they win or lose their games, they are placed accordingly. You cant just start everyone at the bottom and expect games to still be fun or fair.

Silvers = new players and kindergarden students

You don't think having a Diamond+ starting in bronze 5 would be very fun for everybody else for the next 50+ games as they climb?

You do understand that Riot designed it that way as to consider everyone at the beginning of their ranked experience an average League player right? You don't just throw every account into the worst of the worst elo just because they are a newer player/ on a new account.

I absolutely agree with you. There's no damn way how if you go 5/5 on an unranked account, you can get placed At Silver 2. Honestly, I can stand the low silvers and high bronze on my team that just FEED. SO. DAMN. HARD.

It's really tilting so please move it down.

Agreed.

Or, at the very least, match people with similar number of games together if they have below a certain number of games. If someone has played 200 games (ranked or normal, though preferably ranked), they probably have a better understanding of certain things than someone with 10 games, excluding smurfs obviously. Like maybe if you have less than 50 cumulative ranked games played, you can only play with other people with less than 50 cumulative ranked games played in the same MMR bracket.

Had a game where my support kept walking into the Annie support when she had stun up, not using an ability or anything as she walked up. Annie started to just 1 shot my team cause she had something like 26 kills, 15 or so from just my support who was building the suggested items without knowing what they actually did. Checked afterwards, it was my supports first placement and they didn't have many games in their match history. Annie then mentioned afterwards she was a plat smurf. Ok, can't stop that, but it's kinda BS that me and 3 other teammates had a brand new player who didn't get basic concepts like people saying "stop split pushing", "just stay with the team", and "stop trying to fight Annie." Worst part is someone complained they were in their promos (might be lying, didn't check). But still, why match a person doing their first placement with someone in promos? That just seems needlessly unfair for the person in promos.
