Thoughts for a Guardian Angel rework
Hello all. I am writing this to hopefully get the attention of a Rioter to at least get feedback but also to hear your thoughts on this.
My idea stems from being disenfranchised with the prospect of buying Guardian Angel on anyone. Don't get me wrong, it's ok stats with the resistances, but I personally don't like the passive due to the 3 second stasis allowing the enemy team to just position to kill you most of the time, something I feel betrays the "theme" of the item (which is to have a "second chance", so to speak). I feel it operates best currently on duelists/splitpushers though and while technically gives that second chance, it still seems like it could be better.
I feel as though the passive should be something along the lines of a better escape, albeit still with a punishingly long cooldown. My first ideas were to have it give you a huge shield or movement speed buff or huge resists or some combination of these even. However, if it did any of these after the 3 second stasis, it should prevent you from attacking or otherwise dealing damage (so you could still use movement abilities). I felt this gave the item a way better feeling of "being saved" or a "second chance" to the player.
What I settled on though, was the idea that, on death, the item puts you in stasis as normal but at the end (maybe a shortened duration) teleports you away, closer to your fountain or maybe even to your fountain altogether. I chose this over the other options as it still gave the feel of that "second chance" but felt more balanced and fair to both you and the enemies since, while you were saved, that KnifeCat's efforts to oneshot you are not in vain since you are still taken out of the fight. Meaning they may win the teamfight/skirmish and get an objective but pushing into your base is a slightly less viable strategy, giving your team a second chance by proxy. It should be noted that this can, of course, be nullified if that fight rofl-stomped the rest of your team and they can just straight up push into your base.
Something else to note with this passive would be that it gets slightly better the more you're losing, since the fights will typically be closer to your base giving you decreased travel time. Plus, it gives the opportunity for a better animation than the current stasis revival animation (I like it on Zilean's ult fyi, just not on this item), maybe something cliche like angels wings enveloping the champion then lifting them up and dropping them at fountain. I don't know though, that part is purely superficial. Just an idea though, I don't care so much for the animation as I do the effect of the passive.
Discuss.
