Everything bad and good about Rakan (edit: predictably, more bad)

In short/in general: – hard to play – extremely team-reliant, even for support – hard to be useful with his spells – countered hard

  • I guess... challenging
  • everything unrelated to gameplay, his animations, comments, looks, movies, ads, icons, events

Q (heal): – have to hit opponent first – and then it still loads – can't hit through minions – it has almost unnoticeable damage on hit, during late it doesn't exist

W (knock-up): – can be cancelled – pretty long animation – can't cancel the knock-up, in case we want to just use the dash

E (shield): – weak – due to it's dash moving Rakan behind the allie on use, it can't be cast if there are multiple enemies there, unless suicidal

  • very long range if playing with Xayah

R:

  • easy to use – but only if you are close enough or able to get close enough asap – allies often don't use the opportunity and just watch you dance

So... Thanks for yet another great support champion, I guess; hardly seen in any game, but... should have expected. I read Riot's posts. The team say stuff like "we want to encourage players to the role by making supps more fun to play"... but apparently you can't make a fun to play champion without the cost of it being extremely hard and therefore useless if your plays aren't splendid.

Rakan was a failure, deal with it, lonely mains. Being objective, it indeed was a failure, especially if Riot seriously hopes to encourage more players to play support.

You know, I can make a thread where I only list the cons of a champion without looking at any of the pros. I won't though, because that would be a waste of time.

You know, you speak not to the topic.

You know, you speak not to the topic.

Rakan has plenty of pros, and you're ignoring all of them.

He has one of the longest engage ranges in the game, as WELL as the fastest.

His ult can be activated mid W for an animation cancel that charms the enemy into staying inside the knock up.

He is literally the most mobile support in the game, making him incredibly obnoxious and slippery during fights.

His passive makes him deceptively tanky when it's up, now that shield modifiers actually apply to it like they're supposed to.

Why haven't you mentioned any of these pros?

I can forget a few things, thanks for pointing them out. And as for animation cancelling, I had no knowledge of it.

If you seriously want your post to be close to "objective", you should get some people together (optional, but helps) and actually get a thesis going. For example, how do you build him? Is his itemization one of his weaknesses? Do you know why it doesn't work? Do you know what he needs to be a better champion?

Without being constructive, your post is mostly negative and if a Rioter comes and looks at it they wouldn't know what you want them to do with the champ.

I don't think Riot can change Rakan, there's too much he needs, imo. His heal, for example, requires a complete rework, different cast type. Shield shouldn't force you to dash behind the allie. If I actually had some voice about changes, I would suggest his E to be a double click technique, the first click gets you to the allie, and then Rakan chooses the direction to jump away.

But it was just a list, honestly. Only in the end I got negative and wrote some ♥♥♥♥, because I'm a support main and had been waiting for a new supp for so long and this is what I've got.
