How changing ranked could make the community less toxic.
Hi. Here are some ideas to make rank feel better, in my opinion.
TL;DR :
- Reward based on how far you got during the season rather than how far you were at the end.
- Removing promos and league tiers and adding this ladder instead : [B:0-500, S:501-1000, G:1001-1500, P:1501-2000, D:2001-2500].
- Know how much points you'll earn or lose each game : Start with 20 points a win. +2 Points a win and -2 points a lose on that number. Lose a static amount of point based on your league (B:15, S:17, G:19, P:21, D:23). Resets every time you change medal. Bonus at the end :P
First, I think we should reward everyone based on how far they got during the season rather than at what rank they were at the end of the season, and if that'd be put in place, I'd say maybe make the season shorter or have some kind of half-season reward maybe. It wouldn't hurt anyone to get rewarded based on what they were capable of acheiving. As for the top tier (Master and Challenger), I don't know...
Second, what's the point of promos ? Like seriously they're frustrating more than feeling rewarding or acheiving. The many times I lost my promos because of an afk or other lanes feeding (not blaming only that but it did happened, and I'm sure it does for other people as well). I think both demoting and ranking up should be open, not closed by these ''promos'' which can sometimes extend up to 5 games or by these surprise demote that you didn't expect. Basicly I'd delete promos. I would also delete league tiers and put a total points of 2500 (5 medals * 5 division * 100 points per division = 2500 total). [B:0-500, S:501-1000, G:1001-1500, P:1501-2000, D:2001-2500]. As for challenger and master tier..._ I don't even know how it works right now so I'm sure you guys can find something._
Third, know how many points you'll win/lose rather than gain points based on an MMR : I'd say you start with 20 points for a win. Every win is +2 points and each lose -2 to a max of 35 and a min of 10, or something like that. You lose a static amount of points based on your league (B:15, S:17, G:19, P:21, D:23). Everytime you change medal your count resets, and you've got something showing you how much points you'll gain. I'd actually prefer that rather than an MMR we don't know nor we can argue with. I personnaly dislike MMR, since its based on an ideal, and humans are not ideals.
In the end, I think this would make some people a bit less toxic and, at a certain limit, open to losing ! I'm sure being ''Open to losing might sound weird but I feel if losing impacts less your rank, maybe the community will be less toxic.
Bonus : I've always wanted a mode where it's not meant to tryhard, just have fun with stupid builds and stuff and a lot of people say ''normals... duh'' but no normals are not for that haha, please rito. A mode where it's not competive and maybe where each game random stupid stuff arrives like each minion is a cannon or all of your abilities scale AP but you're Shyv or where everyone is suddenly teleported at baron dancing, unable to move for 30 seconds. A gamemode to have fun rather than tryhard, permanently. Ik at least 1 or 2 people who'd restart playing the game if that'd happen. It'd bring back those who come only for urf and shit. An idea for a future post I'll make. :3 Rito plz.
