So just to get this out of the way... yes i am bronze trash but i want to get better and one thing i have never tried to fix is my builds i just use champion.gg and build almost 100% what it says to build even on champs i play often (its gotten to the point where i dont even switch up the order i never know when i should) so my question is how can i learn when i should build a certain item and when i shouldn't like for example i play vayne and i always go static shiv into ie which i know is really normal i mostly need help in the area between that and my last item on her which would be ga (most of the time, sometimes i say f it if i think i have to 1 v 5) i never know when to switch my items up be it the order or the whole build this mostly applies to ad champions i don't play tanks very often anymore but i know how to build them its simple (don't take that as hate i just learned it first) and ap champs are easy for me as well i play them often and have a good understanding but could still use help mostly i need help with ad champs i never know when i should go crit or life steal or even lethality (just a few examples) how can i get better at adapting? and please don't say "just play more" i know thats the best way to solve everything but i want to fix it sooner than later. anyone who took the time to read all of that... thanks!

this is something you learn as you learn the game... this game is very complex in alot of ways... it will take well beyond getting to level 30 before you learn everything.

well the best thing is you have realized it... and are trying to make an effort to better yourself... as long as you try then you will.

but its always situational ... yes champs have core items that are must haves but then there are 2-3 items that are flexible due to what your facing. and that is where you need to pick up your game knowledge

its hard to explain cuz its a situational thing.

if you want an example message me in game with your real account i can look up your game history and build vs enemy comp etc and give you an idea to how to look for things

item 3139 if you're getting wrecked by CC every fight (remember to actually use the active) item 3035 early if they have a shit ton of armor stacking tanks item 3033 if they have a shit ton of sustain (mundo, swain, etc.), otherwise item 3036

I don't play ADC much but that's what I'd do in certain situations.

Depends on what champ you are.

For many adc's, 4 or 5 of your items are going to be pretty much the same from game to game. It's how soon to get last whisper (or occasionally if at all), and whether to get qss/ga/BV that varies more often on adcs. Lethality usually isn't the right choice on most adcs right now imo. Lifesteal versus crit is survivability versus damage, and depends on your confidence in being able to dodge skillshots or be peeled for.

Tank builds will depend on who the scary damage sources are, and should focus mr/armour as appropriate (ideally not forgetting to build health).

Try playing a champ like Evelynn .

You can play her as AP, AD, Tank, and a mix of all 3. Every single game you can build her a different way - and you never should be picking the same items every single match.

Okay so you need to know what's your core and what's your accessories.

Your core items are your must buys, the definitely guaranteed purchases you go for in a game. Vayne's core for example is based on a crit build 90℅ of the time. Meaning you must build a Zeal item (SS or PD recommended), IE or ER (typically IE), boots, and usually a lifesteal item. Because of your role as the ADC, Last Whisper is a must buy if the enemy team stacks any armor. Your end game build should always have these items.

Your accessories is what you build to suit the situation. So decide if you need SS' burst and waveclear or PD's dueling potential for the Zeal item. Also note that Vayne has 5 core items. The 6th can be anything you want.

This next part is going to take a bit of effort on your part: look at all the items Vayne can build, and assume the situations you want them. Most importantly, write it all down. This helps tell you when to build things and in what order and which accessories you should finalize. Playing against Annie or Veigar? Mercurial Scimitar or even Banshee's Veil go a long way. Getting killed by slows a lot in team fights? Might I suggest Swiftness over Berserker's. Got super fed early game and you're an unstoppable monster? PD AND SS hurt a lot. Just a bit of work now and you'll have a strong idea of how to move forward in terms of dynamic building.
