Can someone point me to an explanation of how the new runes work?

Can't find a good clear explaination of the new Offense / Flex / Defense change to runes. I read the relevant section in the patch notes (https://na.leagueoflegends.com/en/news/game-updates/patch/patch-823-notes#patch-runes) but I'm still unclear.

Do I have to pick 9 different new options now? One of the 3 for each of Offensive / Flex / Defense? How and when are they applied?

you pick the runes as normal whatever ever trees you want

for example : Precision + domination

then after you select the two rune paths you want you get 3 flex choices 1st row is adaptive damage ( +10 ap/+6ad) +9 attack speed or +10 % cdr (lvl 1-18) 2nd row is adaptive damage (+10/+6ad) +5 armor +6 mr 3rd row is +15-90 hp ( lvl 1-18) +5 armor + 6mr

you get to choice 1 per row. this gives you additional stats.

so if you went Precision + domination you might go adaptive force , adaptive force and HP giving you +12 ad and +15-90(lvl 1-18)

or if you were to go Resolve + Inspiration then decided to go CDR + ARMOR + HP as extra stats.

the rune trees/paths dont decided the bonus stats you can use any combination with any combination of flex runes to set up your runes

Adaptive Force is 6 ad or 10 ap. The cd rune is 1cd at level 1 then +0.5 per level Health is 15 level 1 then 75 health remains to be divided for the next 17 levels.
