New to Runes

So I'm trying to actually get better and out of bronze and I figured one way to do that is to actually make runes lol. I'm a Velkoz and Veigar main. I also play Cassiopeia and sort of Syndra but ya know those are kind of my back ups. Any ways any tips on what runes I should get? I usually play pretty aggressive and I can land skillshots and stuff but in ranked i do get caught out sometimes but when I have good games I have no problem dealing damage and stuff...so @help? please and ty

to start off you just need to basic rune pages

one for ad and one for ap

AD 9 AD MARKS 9 ARMOR SEALS 3 AD QUINTS OR 3 ATTACK SPEED QUINTS 9 FLAT MR BLUES

AP 9 MAGIC PEN REDS 9 ARMOR SEALS 3 AP QUINTS 9 FLAT MR BLUES

these are your basic generic pages that can work for any champ that is ad or ap

these are squishy ap champs

then you will want ap blues and magic pen reds

but in ranked i do get caught out sometimes

then you want hp yellows

as opposed to armor yellows which are for less silly people. Your champs can get away with this

but when I have good games I have no problem dealing damage and stuff...so @help? please and ty

get ap quints (early farm) ap blues (early farm) hp yellows (anti burst as opposed to anti damage over time) mpen reds (your champs poke things)

scaling stuff is for champs or metagames in which there is some obscene earlygame advantage not depentant on anything in particular to get them by.

You might take scaling MR on a jungler since you have a lot of control over when they actually engage any given enemy earlyon but taking that in lane is cocky and wasteful unless you know for certain somehow (it is possible of course) that your opponent wont be dealing much MAGIC damage AND that you will need to worry about it eventually

All of your champs can get away with scaling AP but there is a price to pay for this for little gain.

If you take flat ap and there is a minion who is low but just high enough that you need your stats RIGHT NOW then you can spend less time lingering about for Fizz Yasuo Zed Orianna Azir Shaco Khazix and all that other nonsense to come exploit your ridiculously sluggish gameplay. It also makes it possible to reach a point where you can one shot the backline minions at an earlier point in the game as opposed to the small difference scaling runes will make long after you've already lost farm you could have gotten.

Flat AP also helps your early poke which feeds into your later poke and burst combos which means that everytime you poke something like Akali the more she has to work to get ready to roll her forehead on the keyboard at you viably.

Scaling runes can be helpful but what's going to happen is that they will later make a small difference lategame but will help you reach new AP threshholds. Scaling runes + the right masteries will result in optimized lategame damage but optimized doesn't mean necessary nor does it mean you'll get what you need before your nexus towers explode.

Mr runes have similar patterns but of course they change how your own hp bar works more so than their own champion

Just remember that scaling runes basically tend to favor those who play passively and level fast (in solo lanes)

Scaling Health Yellows (Seals?) aren't bad provided you don't need the early Armor. Make sure to get Scaling Health and NOT Scaling Health %, as those are a terrible value. If you plan on Jungling (or are certain you will be up against a hard AD user) I would HIGHLY recommend the 9 Armor Seals as the monsters do all physical damage and a little mitigation will greatly help your early clear.

If you plan on optimizing your builds (i.e. I need 40% CDR but only have 30% from Morello's and Abyssal, they have no AD so Zhonya's isn't the best pickup), then definitely look into Glyphs. You can pick up 6 Scaling CDR Glyphs that will give you 10% at level 18, and 3 Scaling MR Glyphs to help you scale a bit less squishy.

There's a ton of other options out there (Hard Lethality comes to mind) but just the basics should be more than enough for a proper page that will have a fairly decent impact depending on your playstyle :).
