3v3 Screwed-up MMR

So, my friend and I have been trying desperately to get into gold in 3v3 so that we can switch our attention to 5v5 and deal with the multitudes of trolls there. We've been playing 3v3 for quite a few years (I'm talking jungle camps in the north 3v3), and we consider ourselves to be at least halfway decent. But we have a problem. At least three in every five games is against teams composed COMPLETELY of plat-ranked players. Plat in 3v3. This season. Does anyone understand how this makes sense? Why do I, as a silver player, have to beat people that I'm not even allowed to queue with per the rules, in order to proceed to a rank that is still a full league lower than theirs?? We've been quite frustrated. Considering quitting. Red-posts appreciated.

There was a post about the state of TT 3v3 made not that long ago. I don't have the link for it now, but the main problem is the lack of players and support. Even when you hit upper tiers (according to the post) you still have a good chance of going up against people who are of a vastly different skill level one way or the other. The only thing you can do is deal with it, or play SR, because until they either fix TT or somehow drum up some interest in it, it's going to stay this way.

I appreciate this answer, and you're exactly right. The lack in interest doesn't exactly encourage them to put a lot of effort and money into it. Ah, well. Maybe I can cinch gold and move on to bigger and better things.

Hey, i was ranked diamond last season in 3's and i usually go into queue as a solo player. In my experience i have had silver players on my team while up against a pre-made challenger team. It's because the population is so low. I would consider yourself lucky if the other team is only 1 tier off.

In one game we were 3 silver/gold no premade against 1 challenger and 2 diamonds (and two were premade).

How it makes sense is because literally nobody plays 3v3, so whenever you queue up, first, because you're playing as a 3-man, if you're going up against solo players, you have higher MMR to try to offset the high communication you should have as a 3-man in comms, and second, it's gotta find people and literally nobody ever plays 3v3. Like for real I've been playing since season 1 and I don't understand the 3v3 META at all, and I'm not gonna try to learn it in ranked, but playing normals gets me teams full of bots where I'm the only real player actually there. So few people play 3v3 that I'm pretty sure Riot only even has it as a queue still so that bots can go there to play so that nobody ever has to deal with them.

(When I say bots, I mean people create accounts and control them solely using a robot to grind to level 30, get blue essence, and get ready to be sold to toxic douchebags who can't keep an account).

Well, that certainly has been the case at one point or another. And bots in normals are definitely remembered from Season 5/6. However, if there were "literally no" players in 3v3 queue, I wouldn't be getting unique enemies every game. I have received at most one same player from a previous game at a time. Additionally, queues are near-instantaneous: telling me that the MMR system is broken, or that 3v3 Flex queue gives no credence to it.

yo think that is bad, i just got a lvl 24 Ashe that doesn't even understand the game in my ranked games...wtf riot...FIX UR DAMN GAME...u only care about LCS now u greedy company and thats why your game is dying

followed by a level 6 ashe the game after...here's the quote for unlocking game modes from riot:

"Ranked Flex 3v3 Twisted Treeline will open at level 30, once you acquire at least 12 champions."

ERM, riot obviously that's not the the case, seems like i'll join the uninstall party and move to fortnite!
