so whenever a discussion about nerfing a champion comes up there are always a group of people with heads up their asses defending anything, and I mean anything. So I have a question to all these masters of league, the game has a roster of 130+ characters, yet every single match we see the same characters being picked or banned. characters like yasuo, zed, master, vayne, darius, kata(less after the change but still way too often), kayne, teemo, fizz, trynda, blitz, lee. If the game is so balanced and its so easy to counter any champion and nobody needs a bloody nerf why is this happening, why is everyone from seasoned players to 10 year old turds picking these characters. how come characters like urgot, yorick, viktor, taliyah, maokai, kogmaw, kennen, sion are rarely ever picked, and if they are they usually have no idea what they are doing. I think some characters need buffs so their existence in the game has a point for more then two or three guys and some need nerfs so they are not the only things picked, effectively making the game repetitive and boring. tell me your ideas and try not to destroy my ass while you are at it

those picks you listed are all (except for lee and zed and sometimes fizz) purely low elo picks. These champions you listed all have Twisted Fate Syndrome, they lose their lane and maybe even their whole game if the enemy knows how to be safe, if they know what to do to make you useless.

With yi even more so. His kit relies on enemy's mistakes a lot to bait out summs and their CC just to dodge it. In low elo where people tilt asf and Keep making beginners mistakes over some misguided sense of needing to be the best via 1v1ing in a 5v5 gamemode playing him is an easy, but the more you go up in the elo ladder the less you see those champions. sure, you still see them, but not nearly as much.

The Pickrates are calculated around how many times this champion is picked on ALL elo's (Except for champion.gg who specifically calculates per elo) so a lot of picks are positively influenced by their so called popularity inside bronze and silver

And he lists Kog'Maw and Maokai (and to a lesser extent Taliyah) as out of meta bad picks... https://pbs.twimg.com/media/DJXrqUsV4AA4ETQ.jpg

I didnt say bad I said rarely picked and if picked the players dont know how to play them, I have been on and off playing for a few years, never going hardcore so always on low elo. I started playing more often, about 15 matches a day and practically never see the champs I listed, you might not be seeing what Im seeing but gotta take my word for it I guess, I see the same shit every day and the champs I listed are never there

yes, but that was the main point of my question, if you need to be really good to even stand a chance against some characters so even kids can play them and some characters appear very rarely some balancing needs to be done. there are so many casuals, and borderline idiots flogging to league that no matter how an individual tries, if he doesnt have a premade team its most likely gonna end in a lost match. because somebody doesnt bother dodging stuns, because somebody doenst understand that he shouldnt try to 1v5 when you are loosing. for a player without a team its a hellhole to get to higher elo and most people just dont want to bother their-selves that much. either all champs need to be hard to master so casuals and idiots dont get off easy picking same champs every match and feeding on idiots, or other characters should be buffed so they all stand a chance and on lower elo its not the same character math up 15 times a day

You don't Need to be good to fight These characters. you just Need to stop focusing around your own ego.

Darius punished stupidity, if you fight him alone then dying is your fault, not him being op. and the same goes for all the champs you listed except remarked champs on my Response.

Those picks are not popular because they are strong, they are popular in low elo because you can abuse the player's lack of calm and teamplay. Skill doesn't even have to do much with These.

so I guess there will be a heaven if I ever escape low elo, constant shittalking, no communication, no teamwork, and everybody thinks they are uncrowned kings of league. its a hellhole. thanks for your input on the matter

No Problem

it might not be as bad as you make it Sound but yes...low elo's biggest Problems isn't the lack of Skill but the lack of forthcoming in teamfighting.

While in high elo there are also people who tend to trashtalk they at least know what they have to do. toxicity is everywhere, but gameknowledge differs with elo and with that Comes also change in popularity and viability to a lot of champs

Im almost always playing support so you see the problem :D no good adc, no ganks from jung, mid ganking and our teammate giving no warnings aaand the match is lost :D

With how Snowbally the meta is yeah that often is the case.

That depends. You get to gold and the problem lessens but once you get to Plat you are now in the High Elo bronze division. Then if you climb your way out of Plat you get into Diamond where the Ego's come into play. I have play with a few Diamonds that will play exactly like Bronze 5 and then bitch when they die.

somebody who shares my pain, finally. I think videogamedunkey describes league perfectly in his video on why he quit. people just dont have the selflessness and sense of teamwork necessary for a game such as this. you either have a team and can just slap some sense into your friend if he is being an idiot, or you get some bimbo from buttfuck nowhere going teemo adc, explains how he is gonna carry the whole team and ends up with 5/10 at best

Maokai is never picked?....??????

What league are you playing in?

ghjgio1 votes

yeah I know, Im low elo so I have no idea whats going on with actual good players but about 15 matches a day, havent seen a maokai for fucking ever :D

Easy to counter doesn't mean people want to do what's necessary to do so or take the risk of failure.

For example, Darius is easy to counter and not OP. However, because I play Nasus, it is impossible for me to beat Darius, so I ban him. Nasus is also a champion who is easily countered and not OP, but many people don't know how or simply don't want to have to counter him.

I'm of the mind set that everyone has someone who beats them. The issue comes up in the way champions are played. Take Thresh (My main). I could play him aggressively, I can play him defensively, I can roam a ton or not at all, I can build tanky, I can build utility, etc. While my favorite is the aggressive tanky play style, it is weak to some champions. While the utility and fedensive style could be strong against those same champions. So it's not just if someone counters someone else, it's how they are played. You hardly see some champions because too many people counter them or their play style doesn't fit many people. For example, support. There are many really good players that can't do support. I personally can't do mid. The play style doesn't fit me. I can take someone's perfect counter and lose because I simpl can't execute on it.

well thats kind of what I was getting at, league looses focus on who its targeted towards, some champs are easy to pick up and can punish for mistakes very easily and some are a nightmare to learn and usually arent that rewarding. Im a main support too btw, keep doing the gods work <3

I mained support when I first played ranked. I dabbled in mid and was decent - not the strongest laner but made up for it in teamfights. I got tired of horrible adc's and being blamed for everything and unable to carry about 2 seasons ago as sup and swapped to top. Now I main top and do some jg and support. I've played adc, but while I can do a passable job on it, it's just not enjoyable for me. I'm sure it's harder to role swap at high elo, but gold and below, I truly believe people CAN play any role and be ok. They might not carry, but they can play well enough to give their team the chance to win.

Furthermore, support should be both the easiest and hardest role to pick up. You play adc? Great, pick a safe sup who sits back and buffs allies with shields or heals. You play top? Grab an engage tank/utility support (thresh, leona, naut, maokai, etc.). You play mid? Brand, zyra, zil, etc. You play jungle? Your champs fit more or less into one of the previously discussed categories: tanks/engage, supportive heal/shield, mage. Everyone CAN play support; people just don't want to admit it. It is actually something everyone SHOULD want to play because it helps you better understand how the other lanes/roles play since you can be a pseudo of any other role as support. Hell, you can even pseudo adc with ap/as kayle sup.

On a different note - I really like what you said about playstyles and builds playing a factor in laning - not just "counter-picks".
