Why am I forced to learn a secondary role?

Here’s the thing. I love playing jungle. So much. I hate playing in lane. The game is so different from jungle to lane. Now I’ve recently been diamond and ran into Riot Roku. In game he said I should stick to other game modes if I can’t play secondary... what? I love jungle, I play jungle. I would glady wait an extra 5-16 minutes if it meant I got my role and didn’t have to off role against someone who was on their main role. I’ve lost so much LP just because I had to top lane. Sure the argument exist that if your in the top 1% you should be able to play multiple roles but why? If I only want to jungle I believe I should be granted that. It’s like putting Halo 2 into an Xbox and all of a sudden I’m in a call of duty game. It’s so different. I want to climb and being held back. I’m a teacher and have a wife with a baby on the way and I do not want to spend an extra so many hours learning a new role when the one I play I’m good at and what I queue up for. Help.

God you would have hated pick order.

Edit: but realistically, it’s best to be decent at every role and maybe have 3 champions for each role. If you want to climb, you need to branch out as well as specialize.

Teach your wife to support and your baby to ADC. Boom. With the amount of top and mid players, you’ll always land jungle.

The point is why can I not have one role I climb on? I’ve chosen to spend my time mastering one role and I’m not being rewarded for it because of the amount of times I have to go to top lane.

Learning other roles will improve your main role because you will learn both what other roles typically prioritize and some of their mechanics, such as wave management.

Because you queue up for 2 roles, or ypur main role + autofill which can be any role besides your main role. Not knowig or understanding all roles will not make you climb, only keep you where you are right now or fall down even more.

I hear that argument a lot -- "I should be able to wait longer if it means I can get the role I want"

Here's the thing though -- if Riot gave people that option the entire community would be affected as the pool for matchmaking would become smaller. Regardless of whether or not you queue for a single role or a duo role you would have to wait longer.

The community as a whole decided that queue times were too long back when roles were introduced. This is the compromise we came up with. Unfortunately you do not get to opt out of it.

The argument to understand roles is invalid though. I understand how other roles work but I do not need to understand the micro part of it. I’ve been apart of enough 5’s leagues and watched over 1000 vods of gameplay/team play. I just want my role so I climb :(
