Leaverbuster confusion?

So I was just playing a game as Ahri, where I got really bad ping all game (about 1k average), and I spent the game actively trying to fix the issue (eventually fixing it with about 5 minutes to go), and the system decided I deserved a leaverbuster, even though I came back to the game, and was actively trying my best to help my team, and we did eventually win.

The thing is, the other day, I had to drop out of a game because my PC was overheating, and I didn't return to the game before the end, and I didn't get a leaverbuster for this? so I was wondering if there was a reason for this, or if I could appeal the leaverbuster?

Many thanks,

Syílith

Leaver buster seems to work in two's(at least in ranked). The first time, you don't get punished, then the second time gives the punishment, this repeats after every punishment is completed.
