What happened to Aram balancing?

So I play arams often, and I notice quite a number of champs that could use some balancing specific to aram. Was this given up on, much like trying to actually balance the rest of the game? Perhaps more funding could be invested into this department. Or into checking into champions on a specific basis in all modes in general.

PS: Why can't Lee Sin W himself while snared? #Good Design

Riot apparently decided allotting one guy's lunch break to work on TT and ARAM balance was too many resources not spent on SR.

Don't you know? They only spend time balancing ARAM once a year. Because Riot don't seem to have a team specifically for balancing ARAM & have to wait for the SR guys to get a break. Same story with the Twisted Treeline. Hell, Featured Game Modes get more attention on a regular basis than these 2 maps.

Occasionally, there's some buffs, nerfs or adjustments to specific champs. But any big balance changes that affects the whole mode is a rarity.

ARAM and balancing in the same sentence....wut On the serious note they did a bit of ARAM balancing last year. It was a snowball fiesta before that. Now you actually have a chance to win against strong comps. The balancing issues still pop up, but because of general buffs and nerfs. ARAM specific OP champs become just a bit serious of a problem in high MMR ARAM games.

I think a lot could be solved by just offering white/black lists to people to sort out their own champion pools. This would allow them to play what they want, avoid what they want, and preserve the random nature of the mode. Everybody complains that this would just destroy diversity and I agree, however, isn't this true of every game mode? Every game mode has champions that are favorites in the mode because their kits are more suited to the mode, but only in ARAM are we not allowed to have this. In ARAM we are just forced to eat shit every so often when our rerolls betray us or are used up.

It does make sense to not let people decide what they want to play in aram (all random all mid). However, being able to change your championpool by banning 3 champions you don't want to play isn't that bad of an idea. (For example: I dodge games where I am forced to play jax)

The thing that troubles me is how often one sided the matches actually can be. rip they get Nautilus Brand Ziggs Zilean etc and your team ends up with a super squishy jinx twitch and sivir and a nunu. The naut ends up getting a ton of armor from masteries with coc so you know if he snowballs someone their dead. and brands got his dft along with the annoying zig zilean wave clear. These are just champ pools I generally get when I go into aram, but I really don't see it as random. but I do think that it discourages players from owning certain champions.
