Why bard is a trash tier champion

As a support:

  • roaming and supporting bot lane is somehow contradict to each other
  • the exp gained from roaming cannot make up for those you lose in lane
  • you lose gold from the support item while roaming

As a jungler:

  • deal next to no damage and take months to clear camps
  • the benefit of collecting chimes is not that attractive
  • Zac can do nearly the same about ganking paths while he can actually clear camps and deal damage

So far I see every bard player tends to be failed.

The caretaker wanders into my jungle and gives me free gold.

This. I've seen Bard die soooooooooooo many times while wandering to collect chimes. Its at the point where when (not if) you see him leave bot lane you just camp a bush with one of his chimes in it and blow him up when he inevitably face checks it

I've had 2 bards on my team, 1 was real bad, 1 was really obviously trolling. Every Bard I've fought against has lost their game to my team.

I think what it is is that Bard shouldn't leave lane until laning phase. The chimes stay in the field for 10 minutes, by that time, the laning phase is over and you can just pick up whatever chime you want, as long as you're picking them up on the way to objectives, not from top to bottom.

This. Only leave your lane as Bard when you normally would leave your lane anyway. Supports already should leave their ADC occasionally, if only to place wards near tri-bush and dragon.

Well the only thing useful for bard is roaming after 6, setting up ganks with ult from 1000 units away then using Q to double stun...

Bard needs a good team coordination, so he fails in soloQ. I played once with him in a 5 premate, and it worled really well, but you really have to adapt your teamcomp and strategie to the early roaming(we did a lanswap) and kinda wombocombo and usebards ult as setup. And obviously, bard shouldn't go all squishy with next to no vision into the enemiw jungle and take chimes, he should buddy with the jungler as he'S a freekill alone

It's not even been that long and people are calling him trash.

He's not trash tier, he's just VERY undertuned at the moment. It is impossible to collect enough chimes to reach 4 meeps (i.e. 95 chimes) in most games. Why? Because they spawn at a rate of 2 every 50 seconds (except 1:40 and 2:30, which spawn 1 each)... so 95 chimes takes 48 * 50 seconds = 40 minutes. That's assuming you don't miss a single chime in a pretty long game. Even with 95 chimes, you're missing half of the upgrades (which scale up to an almost literally unattainable 150 chimes).

His meeps need a toggle option, because you will almost never have them up in a teamfight if you helped your team take or defend an objective in the past 30 seconds.

I've played him in 4 normals so far (I wouldn't subject my team to him in ranked) and have gone 6.5-8 KDA in each game (heavy on assists, not kills). I can see why a lot of people might be bad with him, but if you play him smart, he doesn't have to be. You just have to know his limitations and build him a bit bulky. The mistakes I've mainly seen have been people building Luden's and other AP glass cannon items on him. DO NOT DO THIS.
