Riots lack of action on trolls
I've never made a post before but after playing for the past week or so i feel it's time to air my grievances with riot. While riot loves to say it is taking charge of the toxic players via bans, tribunal and good player reward they are missing the fundamental cause of a lot of the toxicity IE trolls. Now by trolls i mean everything from troll picks, feeding, afking or simply refusing to communicate. In normal games this can (i suppose) be over looked because let's be honest its norms and that is basically the testing ground for new champs. However it is when riot ignores the sheer number of trolls in ranked that is putting me over the edge. In the past week i have literally had people speaking french in the NA server, a gragas feed mid then declare his character "is to fat to leave base" and went afk for the remainder, had adc taking tele, top taking smite because "thats what the pros do" and best of all having jungles that refuse to gank because their buddy is playing a certain lane. That last one i blame at least partly on riot for promoting buddy play over individual play but you get the point (really riot you give ip bonuses to people who play with friends but screw the individual because......).
Now i don't want to sound like im making excuses for being in silver however when i drop from high S3 to just hovering around S5 (and many times running on 0 points) i think i have a right to complain. Sadly i don't think i recall this game ever being as bad as it is now and i've been playing since season 2. So my question is at what point will riot take action instead of wasting time on bad language? At what point will riot realize their ranked system is probably the worst it has ever been? Most importantly when will riot realize they are losing paying customers because lets be honest the troll players aren't going to buy skins, icon etc.
So how do we remedy this? Well for one i propose a total overhaul of the ranked system. Do away with promos as that is doing nothing to help anyone and gives more opportunity to be kept at lower levels. Come up with and enforce a system to punish players who AFK immediately after champ select (give them a grace period of a couple mins sure but after that punish them). To that end do away with the 20 min surrender rule and instead reduce it to say 10-15 mins. Nobody wants to be stuck playing a game for 20 mins when you know there is no way your going to win for whatever reason. On the same level as the new individual player rating ranked games should be assessed not only on how your team did but how you did as an individual. This last one i feel is a great way to help people because we can all relate to trying to carry only for someone to AFK and all of our work was for nothing. Why is it that we get punished for the actions of other players? Wouldn't it make more sense to say yes you lost so we will take points from you but since you were say 10/3 we will only take a fraction of what we normally would. Lastly you should never lose more points over a match than when you win. I can't really think of a good reason why losing a game cost you 20 points but if you win you only get 15. That is simply promoting the concept of ELO hell.
The second solution is to stop making this a game of luck vs a game of skill. With so many champs riot has lost all focus on some of the older lesser used champs and therefore they are not viable in ranked play. Sure i can play as Malz mid and i might get lucky and win a few here and there but when when all the other team needs to do is select a champ with a dash/stun/silence (which most new champs have at least one of) it's really easy for them to just roll me over. There is no skill in that it is simply that the new character is all around better equipped then i am through no fault of my own. One could argue that i shouldn't play Malz mid then but why should my choices be limited to the meta riot selects? Again going back to AFK players that is a direct "lucky" occurrence for the other team. Giving a 4vs5 advantage takes the game from who can handle their lane better to a simple game of numbers. True enough there is not much you can do to prevent this the fist time but if a player has repeated AFK reports they should be banned from ranked play until they demonstrate they actually want to play. Last thing is to go over skills such as blind and give them the effects they deserve. Why is it that Teemo for example can "blind" you yet it really only stops your AAs? Wouldn't it make sense that you are actually blinded and even your spells miss for the duration? The sheer frustration of having a riven dominate you because your blind does nothing to her is all the reason you need to justify this change. Stuns stop spells. snares stop channeling spells, knockup stops spells but blind does nothing other than make AAs miss for some reason. Again luck vs skill i might win a few here and there but when champs can literally ignore my abilities it's no longer a fair matchup.
I am sure there are more solutions so let's hear them. Maybe if enough people comment their solutions/frustrations we can get a red to look at this and make some real progress
