The only thing that has ever really bugged me about his kit, is that as he levels up, he builds attack speed from his passive slower and slower. Because the attack speed is based off of the bar's current % of max, every time he levels up and gains a higher max blood well bar, adding the same amount to it gives you less attack speed.
Say he uses his Q at level 1 vs at level 18.
At level 1:
538 Max HP
105 Max Blood Well
.3% attack speed per 1% in blood well
Q adds 53.8 health to blood well
53.8/105 = 51.238%
51.238%*.3% = 15.371% attack speed
At level 18:
1983 Max HP
870 Max Blood Well
.55% attack speed per 1% in blood well
Q adds 198.3 health to blood well
198.3/870 = 22.793%
22.793%*.55% = 12.536% attack speed
For these two values to equal he would need to have 2431 max hp at level 18, when they should be equal anyway. Basically, Aatrox gets punished for not building HP (AD Aatrox who would benefit from the extra attack speed the most is punished the most).
This is even more pronounced in his W ability Blood Thirst/Blood Price.
At level 1 (Rank 1)
W used 3 times adds 45 health to blood well
45/105 = 42.857%
42.857%*.3% = 12.857% attack speed
At level 18 (Rank 5)
W used 3 times adds 150 health to blood well
150/870 = 17.241%
17.241%*.55% = 9.4826% attack speed
You would need 70 bonus AD before these values equaled. And guess what? Getting more attack speed faster means you can get more W's off which means even more of a difference!
TBH i have always thought Max Blood Well should Scale with Max HP. It would make sense (tankier Aatrox's would respawn with more HP than a glass Aatrox instead of having a lower %).
It would also make that 55% attack speed from passive at level 18 max blood well feel better than the 30% at level 1 because it stacks just as fast. Also change W so the health cost scaled with Max HP instead of Bonus AD as to make all his health costs scale the same way.
The original way i noticed this is playing Tank Aatrox, use W at level one and you get attack speed pretty quickly vice using W at level 18 sitting there attacking minions and barely feeling the attack speed increase.
Tl;dr Blood well gives less attack speed (per ability used) at higher levels than it gives at lower levels, so he is effectively getting weaker as he gets stronger...because that makes sense...
