Growing Up: From Bots to PVP

Hello. I've been playing League, regularly as in almost daily and sometimes several matches daily, now for about a decent, solid month, perhaps genuine month and a half and before that, here and there casually for a few months before. My question is, out of sheer curiosity, how long did you as a genuinely-new player, play bots before progressing to PVP matches? Inquiring minds want to know. Thanks for your feedback.

I went straight to PvP as soon as I could and only used bots if I felt like practicing a new champion or if PvP was going poorly and I wanted a win of the day. I recommend going to PvP as soon as possible, because you will learn faster against human opponents. Always seek the toughest competition you can handle when you are trying to improve. Don't feel any pressure that you have to perform to a certain standard just because other players act like you should. Many people play PvP just so they can feel good about beating other players. Don't take that attitude. Just go there to learn and improve. If it's too much for you, you can always go back to playing bots. You don't actually lose anything by trying PvP unless you had a big ego to lose.

I've been playing since the end of season 2, beginning of season 3, and I still play bots. I don't do it to get better at beating bots, but to work on the feeling of certain champions or builds. I just like the care free space in bot matches, but sometimes there's a few people who are big jerks and say, "OMG KS, uninstall."

Back to your question about how much time-wise it takes to graduate (I'm going to refer to time as levels.)

levels 1-10: Basically Only bots, sometimes did PvP, but this was the time when duo top was much more popular in the lower levels.

levels 11-20: I've made some friends, and I'm getting good at destroying bots, and now I want to test my main champions on real people.

levels 21-29: I start to study masteries and runes and gameplay strategies online, MobaFire was my favorite website for learning the game.

Level 30: I hit level 30 within season 3, and to be honest I wasn't really excited about ranked games, I mean normal games was enough stress for me already. To be honest I play normal games as much as I play ARAM, and I play bot games also somewhat evenly too.

Conclusion: I didn't mean for this to be such a long reply, but I guess I really got into the subject. I'd say you can learn some stuff still from bot matches, but you learn a lot more from PvP, and even more in Ranked games. I Usually Only try to play normal games with friends to have more fun, cause that's why I play this game.

I've played since November 2014, and the only reason I started was because my friends made me. I played bots until lvl 3, norms to lvl 5, and then I played ARAM all the way up to lvl 30. I only now play bots if I'm feeding epically or I need to test a new champ. You just have to go for it, man.

It Took space me space playing for about one year then quitting for about another year and playing Dawngate which had no bots to get over my fear of playing against other people. By advice is just to jump into playing normal games and ignoring know when people start hating on you. So long as you're comfortable playing it on your own that's all that really matters.
