Why is ranked so broken?

I thought this season the dynamic queue and the new champ select were going to make for an interesting ranked season. Boy was I wrong. I got placed into s3 (which isn't bad but I know I'm gold caliber). I start to climb fairly well until I get to silver 2. I start getting matched with morons, feeders, and toxic people in my games, in 36 hours I'm down to s4 even though I did well considering the circumstances. After over a week I got back to s2 and got into s1 after some time after that. Then the exact same thing happened and got into s3. The exact same scenario. So I finally get back to s1 recently and just got back down to s2. I've gotten demoted around 6 times so far this season. I know I do well (I'd say gold caliber). I play in positions I'm comfortable carrying with, and yet this crap happens. I have asked riot to tell me why they keep sending me into the mmr spiral, but they give me vague and frankly, not genuine answers. I was wondering if any of you have had this trouble and explain to me why I keep getting punished for things that aren't even my fault? I hope I'm not alone. Sorry for the long post, but I think you guys deserve context as to my utter frustration.
