Ideas for Jungle Changes

What are the real jungle issues right now?

  • Early ganks are very strong and often decide the lane or even the game if it is on a good carry.
  • Junglers can carry the game - even if not by snowballing others then by solo carrying.
  • Junglers often scale very well into the game, usually able to 1v1 any of the laners (which is madness compared to previous seasons - Feral Flare not included).
  • Jungle has always been a high-impact role - but now it feels more so than ever.

I think some small tweaks can help fix this. I think we need to make early ganks more difficult, and reduce the scaling into the late game too.

  • Jungle item changes: Each large/epic monster gives a stack to bonus jungle XP (up to maximum of 8). Once fully stacked, no more stacks can ever be obtained and each large/epic monster gives a bonus of 30% XP and consumes 1 stack.

  • Lower jungle XP. Junglers don't hit level 2 until killing the large monster from the second camp. To offset this, jungle camps are little tankier but deal less damage at level 1.

So due to the XP changes, Junglers will have their first gank delayed - no matter who the jungler is. They will also be rewarded for sticking in the jungle in the earlier stages of the game. However, once they have stacked their jungle item they will be able to catch up with the laners and have their impact. Once all stacks are consumed they will then not go into full hypercarry god-mode, so will be more liable to move into the utility role Junglers classically held.

Just a thought.

I'm no jg player but not hitting Lv 2 after killing your first camp will feel terrible. Having that 2nd ability (whether for mobility, stun or AoE dmg) is important to clear faster and healthier, not to mention the base stats you get upon leveling up after killing your 1st camp. It's basically kinda like if you get invaded and are delayed on your clears. I think the reduced XP changes are fine as is. If junglers start to feel like they are falling behind in XP, they can just make the jg camps scale past Lv 7 into Lv 8 or something. Not my downvote btw
