Hey, i recently switced to main support, and im having a blast with janna/rakan. How big should my champion pool be for fast climbing in ranked when s9 starts? Thank you. (Peaked gold during this season, dropped to s3 after trying jungle, now i am at s1 with gold 4 mmr)
Bobloser35551 votes3 champs for your main role and 2 for your secondary, just my opinion. Also it's good to have different kinds so you don't get so easily counter picked and you have the option of counter picking.
Phieldworker1 votesI’m kind of in the same boat right now (haven’t been to gold yet) but I’m gunning for it this season. I think a nice champ pool of 3-5 champs is sufficient. Like 3 for your main role and then a couple for your off role.

You may be the best "insert champion name" player and still lose the game, because it's 5v5, so even something like short lag mid-late game can cost you the game, never mind the trolls or players that are not concentrated. I personally have all the champs... play whatever seems fun to you, it's just a game, man

I don’t think they are talking about which champs will win them the game. They are saying how many champs should they focus on so they don’t spread themselves thin.
It makes sense to have less champs with more games on each one because you know their damage, movement, ability range, match ups, etc. So then when you’re in a game you don’t have to think of 100 new things you just have to focus more on macro play.
I agree that it is a game and you should have fun meaning play who you have fun with but if you’re trying to climb properly you are going to have to recognize your strengths and weaknesses and pick champions out of that. It could mean maiming 3 champs for a month and then next month get on a new one. Something like that.
