ADCs in General and 6.9
So as an ADC main for the past few seasons, I am having a hard time understanding why all the power has shifted away from ADCs. Personally I think it is extremely (and I use that word sternly) difficult to make an impact in the game as ADC nowadays. The reason I say this is not just because of the mage reworks, but I will get there shortly. Over the seasons, I have noticed ADCs going downhill in terms of being able to carry games solely by yourself. It's not a matter of "I will just shred people in teamfights with my superior positioning and damage output." It's more of a "I have to get fed early and translate that lead to a win or else I stand 0 chance of carrying this game." Some counterarguments to this may be "oh well that's exactly the point of carrying a game Mr. AsianBoy7, you need to get fed by being better." Well that just doesn't happen as often as you would like it. If I am Diamond elo, and I'm facing someone of my same Diamond elo, the chances of me getting fed are slim because both of us know how to lane against someone of similar skill. My argument is basically: why is it that ADCs seemingly have to get fed in order to carry a game? Take mid laners for example. With this new 6.9 patch, mid laners basically do not have to do a damn thing in lane besides stay safe, not feed, and get to mid game. Once it hits mid game with teamfights, mages will shred every body with their new items and AOE abilities that allow them to constantly wreck teamfights without being fed. This then leads them to get fed and become raidboss mages that carry the game easily. But why is it for ADCs to carry the game, it isn't enough to position correctly, target select correctly, and play smartly? Why is that not enough? In my opinion ADC is the role that should have the highest impact on a game. If you have a good ADC then you should be able to win the game because he has good positioning and target selection, not because he's forced to get fed early to have an impact. I don't know, just my honest opinion on the state of the ADC role at the moment. I do not think we are in the best spot right now, and that is an understatement.
