Rumble in Season 6

How do you feel about Rumble in S6? I started playing him a few days before 5.22 and really like him, however I feel like with the changes made in 5.22 he isn't as viable as a champion. His core items got more expensive and some of his counters got buffed. Also with the new minion changes coming do you think that CSing will become much more difficult?

Considering that the minion changes will only affect minion-vs-minion combat, I don't think they'll have any major impact on CSing.

Although bad players will claim that the changes hold them back.

I thought that they were changing how characters moved through minions. Or did that happen in 5.22?

That's what you mean. Sorry, thought you were refering to the changes in minion-to-minion combat.

But the minion-champion-collision improvements should not really affect his CSing, either.

Rumble is more or less in the same spot he was before, which is fine. Ya his items got more expensive, but it's like that for almost all the AP champions.

Nothing really changed, except teleport is a bit weaker. Works nicely for rumble since he can take ignite and kill people earlier. (No one expects the overheat damage) rumble still snowballs fairly hard, especially once he gets some Mpen

I haven't played Rumble since the preseason started, but DFT is probably absolutely broken on him, seeing as he has both a huge q DoT with basically no cooldown (which will reapply it constantly), his ult (which will also reapply it constantly, on top of the slow and the fact that it will be on their whole team) and, most broken of all, his E can apply the full single-target DFT value twice.

He can't possibly be worse now.

I'm a Rumble main who played a crap ton of this guy (when did it started, Season 2?), I've seen him fall and rise over the course of the time and I can tell you, it's better than I thought it would be. Obviously Rumble can't compete with Jax who wins 1v5 scenarios with just a Guinsoo without breaking a sweat, or abominations that some of the adcs became (Lucian They just won't let you have a break, will they?), but quite frankly, he's one of the few mages who didn't became entirely worthless within one patch.

First off, potion changes favour Rumble's lane bully playstyle by a lot, now that they cost more, and buying item 2033 or item 2032 is an actual tradeoff (you can't have both these and regular health potions), his harrass is much more noticeable. Second, since he doesn't use mana, mana potion removal didn't hit him at all, and so he can continue to be an annoying spam happy little fella we know and love (to gank). Lastly, thanks to the introduction of item 1082, Rumble finally has an option to start agressively in lane in a matchup like Vladimir Nasus Akali (perhaps I went too overboard with this one, since Akali top isn't a thing nowadays, oh well, you'll get the point once she is) rather than sticking to the regular item 1028/item 1029 + pots (don't even try to tell me that you buy this thing item 1054), which is a good alternative to be honest.

But then, there's the bad part... Yes, AP items got shafted, it's been talked about to death, but in Rumble's case, the only thing that really hits him is the Zhonya's whooping 500g cost increase (it's one of your core items after all), Liandry's still bonkers on him, Rylai's still pretty good, and the ambient gold increase does make up the cost increases. The only change about Rumble's itemization that has changed is that Rabadon's feels more like a noobtrap to me at the moment, it's a bit too expensive for what it gives (you can have much more useful utillity values for less gold while trading off only small amount of AP), and it's generally better to prioritize your trusted item set item 3020 item 3151 item 3157 item 3116 item 3135, due to how well those passives work with Rumble's kit and his base damages and ratios are high enough to make up lack of Rabadon's. Removal of 5% cdr in offense tree does hurt heat management, but it's just a matter of getting used to and slamming your keyboard quickly enough. On the other hand, DFT is a really good mastery on him, although I think that it's been given way too much credit in Rumble's case (I've noticed that people like to overexaggerate to any Rumble related change, remember 5.13? All he gained was +36 AP late game and people wanted to see him gutted), yea, it's good and adds some nice damage into the overall destructive power of Flamespitter and Equalizer combined, but I noticed that those 2 damage ticks early game can easily attract way too much turret aggro than needed (but again, it's a question of getting used to), it's still definitely worth to wait for it to scale and watch the whole world burn. Now all of that shit wouldn't have been so problematic, if not the obvious item 3124 and even more obvious Irelia Jax XinZhao, and this piece of crap item 3155 on top of it all is just way too much. Guinsoo is just way too overtuned at the moment, and any champion that can't really use it to its fullest is pretty much a troll pick at this point (except TahmKench of course, he's jesus). Not only that, but also guess what, the champions that benefit from Guinsoo the most, were either Rumble's hard counters, or Guinsoo puts them overboard so much that even if Rumble was their hard counter, he can't do anything about this 600 damage per AA. Those couple of patches are going to be a real pain for Rumble (his current 45% win rate can tell you that already, like come on, Poppy's win rate is higher for god's sake!), but I can assure you, once the whole Rageblade bandwagon blows over, our Yordle hothead will rise as a still strong top lane pick that can contribute to current meta with those early game teamfights.

All you need is hope... aaaaand a giant metal suit.Rumble

tl;dr: Could have been worse

Rumble is the same. Horrible laning/early game, mediocre-to-bad mid game, fantastic late game even if underfed.

The Equalizer is one of the strongest team-fight ults in the game even with low AP.... couple that with Flamespitter and you have a recipe for powerful team fights... but his early game is still garbage after the constant nerfs to Flamespitter.
