S rated games question

Wasn't sure where to put this, since there is no real catch-all section of the Boards.

I got a straight up skin for an S rated game today, which seems weird since I've never seen anything hinting it was possible. It doesn't have to do with how many skins I own, since I got a chest earlier this weekend with the exact same number of skins (for context, you can't purchase mystery gifts for yourself if you don't have enough skins left for it to choose from). I'm rank 3 mastery with the champ, so it doesn't have to do with that either. I'm not complaining at all, a skin is much better than the overwhelming likelihood of a champ shard or 1/3 of a skin. I'm just wondering if there is a precedent here, and if so what triggers it? Has this happened to anyone else?

are you sure someone didn't gift you a mystery skin?

Yeah you don't get skins from S ranks.

It's possible for people to gift you a skin on the champ you were using in the post game lobby, and also riot is giving out a mystery gift to everyone who already own riot kayle (and those who don't get riot kayle), so it was probably one of those at work.
