Why does Rakan get a heal off of his q when he hits braums shield since it never hits the champion? Does he get the heal if he hits Yasuo's windwall

Projectiles are always treated as if they hit braum, it's just that the first one against his shield deals no damage.

Yasuo's wall completely destroys the projectile before it can hit any champion, so Rakan would not get the heal.

Why is it that a should-be squishy assassin has a better team-protecting shield then the guy with the actual team-protecting shield?

Braum intercepts stuff so it hits him and then destroys the projectile, rather than the windwall case where it destroys the projectile outright.
