New Malzahar Kind of Sucks

Does anyone else agree that the new Malz Malzahar kind of sucks? His voidlings can't stay alive for longer than 2 seconds because they take one hit and they die. When they had a certain amount of hit points, like a vision ward, it helped his gameplay a lot. Now it seems like he doesn't rely on his voidlings at all, you have to rely on all his other spells instead, which is okay with his malefic vision because he deals a crap ton of damage already. I really think that he should be strengthened a little like he was after his ability update when his voidlings became a spell. But not quite as strong as that. His voidlings need to be able to survive better like they did. Anything to help the voidlings in some way will be great.

I personally feel like Malz needs a change soon.

This is probably going to be an unpopular opinion but I think that Malzahars voidlings should remain easy to kill, and I say this as somebody who plays Malzahar.

My reasoning? He is extremely powerful and his passive makes him incredibly safe, as does the rest of his kit for that matter. He has very few exploitable weaknesses in lane, and I think that if his voidlings were harder to kill then he would be a complete nightmare for Riot to keep him playably powerful in mid lane, without being super oppressive.

I'm not a game designer or anything so that is entirely speculation, but it seems to me that Malzahar needs clear weaknesses for him to retain his position as a powerful pick, and I personally believe the voidlings should be where that kit is exploitable, at least in lane so there are more viable good match ups versus him.

If you've ever had a small scale skirmish on Malz or simply landed his full combo on somebody in lane you'll know his voidlings can still do a ton of work anyway.

All in all, I think he's in a good spot, let the voidlings function as a skirmishing tool / cleanup, if they were powerful enough to survive in teamfights or lane for extended periods of time we'd run into the problem of them having to cripple him in other area's in order to keep him in check, and honestly considering his cooldowns are so low Voidling -Swarm- kind of makes sense for them to be quick dying expendable suicide-minions.

Although I definitely like the reworked malz over the old one, his new voidlings are extremely underwhelming.

Well considering he's at a 55% win rate, he probably needs nerfs. Not buffs

He has a 55% rate because most people in lower elo don't know how to build item 3140 , or at least don't think they need it. Then again if you're completely fed af you might not even need your ultimate to kill a squishy target.

I agree with this, any type of aoe skill or statik shiv or anything like that immediately deletes all 3 voidlings he puts out making the skill completely worthless, like sure they could clear a wave if nothing damages them but even then they only last 8 seconds. It's an overwhelmingly disappointing move now that has almost no impact on a team fight as they'll die instantly to any damage.

malzahar really need a rework or a buff, the E suck, the W suck, the R would be retty broken but u can t combo because E and W suck. Q is just for utility. passive: a r%%%%%ed shield that even the tryndamere slow can put down. make sense riot.

The voidlings actually do much more work in close quarters than they used to even as they are more easily killed at a distance.
