You always start at 0 lp, but you never get demoted to 100?

So I think it's unfair that if you had 99lp and won your game, got up to 100, won 2 games of your series in a row you're gonna be placed in your next rank with 0 lp, but if you had 1lp, got down to 0 then lost one game and got demoted (if your mmr is terrible) you get around 76 lp. Or even if you lose 2 oyu might get like 60 lp. I know in some cases that doesn't happen, some people get demoted to 90lp but that's an exception. Most cases people get promoted to 0lp and demoted to around 80 Isn't that unfair?

The system keeps you at 0 LP in the upper rank for a while before you get demoted, to prevent you from waving between two ranks too much. If you're demoted, it's because your MMR is already a bit below what is considered enough for your rank. A lot of people at 0 lp are already slightly below their rank, but are held up by this system for a few games.

Your suggestion would imply that you would demote faster after losing at 0 lp. I don't think that's a good idea.

I think the reason that you get demoted lower than 100 LP is to keep you from bouncing back and forth between divisions rapidly. If you got demoted and had 100LP you would only have to win 1 game to get back into a series. The fact that you need to win a couple before series is basically to test if you actually deserve to be in the division you just got demoted from. But that's just me.

riot is dumb. nuff said.

It would be nice if we could start with like 25 lp so we dont get demoted from just 1 or 2 losses

its because of another bad decision from rito, they got rid of the ELO system which was way way more accurate for this bullshit mmr system.

I have been one win away from entering promos for Bronze 3, with a win already counted (because I was in promos before) and then lost at least the two following games 3 times in 2 weeks. That...is unfair...[zombie-brand-facepalm]

well I mean..mmr. [slayer-pantheon-rainbows]

it is becasue you lose LP even when you are at 0

DrCabes7/6/2016, 2:03:27 AM1 votes

To be fair you have to lose like 5 games at 0 lp to get demoted but no one complains about that.

I know in some cases that doesn't happen, some people get demoted to 90lp but that's an exception.

This has literally never happened to me. If the game doesn't think you should deserve to be demoted, you won't get demoted. Also, when you first get into a new division, you get like 2 free buffer games before you are in danger of being demoted again (more if your mmr is high). The actual stupid thing that you should be complaining about is how after getting trolled out of your promo series, you end up back with 60 LP. That's fkin trash.

Blakiepug7/6/2016, 6:04:08 AM1 votes

I agree! I get 99 lp waaaaay too much. Like legit 90% of the time I enter a series it is from 99 lp and it always feels like bs.

Sasogwa7/6/2016, 9:19:26 AM1 votes

Well there's also the fact that you don't get automatically demoted once you lose 1 game at 0 LP so it's only if you lost a bunch of games which would have led to a similar amount of LP with other systems

DeathBurst7/6/2016, 12:23:02 PM1 votes

You're not demoted to 60 or 90 LP. You are ALWAYS demoted to exactly 75 LP.

You must be confused about losing a promo series. When you win a series, you're promoted at 0 LP, when you lose a series, your amount of LP is calculated from your previous matches just as if they were normal matches, and as if you were at 100 LP at the beginning of the series.

I don't know if it is fair or not, I just wanted to explain how it actually works.

Dude I played since late S1, I usually play 2-3 games a day (If not more), and I literally didn't have all the champions until a couple months ago.

Alpha Samsuni7/5/2016, 4:58:37 PM1 votes

Isn't there like a grace period when you get promoted for 2 games or so?

Most times you get a 'free' win on your promos if you win a game at ~96 LP.

At least from my experience.
