Just curious if anyone else has noticed this. In all my queues, the ADC is the only person to never prelock. As a support main i find this very irksome when im trying to synergize with my adc to maximize our potential lane. Ive asked but have never gotten a straight answer as to why all these adc players are adverse to showing their champ before pick phase.
I can't speak definitively for the people in your games but I would imagine that when they are playing a slow, squishy, scaling champ that everyone has as their #1 target, they want to see what awful things the enemy has picked for them before they decide on whether they really do want to pick that nice lady without an escape ability.
Generally because unless there's a particular champion they want to play no matter what, it's better to wait to see what the enemy ADC is playing to get a more favorable or familiar matchup
So people wouldn't intentionally ban their picks. Usually happens when they refuse to give their role to autofill jungle or autofill support.
I don't prelock because some marksmen don't work well into certain comps. While some are good at stomping lane (MF/Jhin) if the enemy team has more tank, those picks aren't as good as their dps isn't great (but honestly dps doesn't matter when every champ in the game can one shot a marksman). Worst case scenario my team doesn't pick a single front line champion so I guess I'll just pick Swain and get tanky af so that way we can actually win team fights, because that top lane teemo isn't going to tank for me, that Jax jgl is just going to try to 1 v 5 every chance they get, Sona support isn't going to outdamage NOR outheal the damage of the Zyra support. The Lux mid will feed Yasuo. Sometimes as a marksmen player it just feels like a lost cause in champ select. Every player out there should know that marksmen need champions around them that can survive, peel, and provide hard cc/utility. When everyone on my team picks a squish, or my support picks a champ that just stands 10 feet behind me the whole game (Soraka), I know I've already lost at champ select. Also: nothing tilts me more than an auto filled support locking in Sona. Just, don't. Pick Velkoz or Xerath or Brand or some busted poke your ass from a mile away champion so we can actually win our lane.
