It's been 2 weeks, some thoughts on the pre season assassins?
Hey guys,
So it's been almost 2 weeks now since the preseason started, what are your thoughts so far on the assassins update? Who do you think are the best or worst among the big reworks (LB, Fizz, Rengar, Khazix, Kata, Talon, Zed, Shaco)?
Let's start with Talon, Khazix and Rengar. I think they are all super good for solo Q (Kha and Rengar can even be good in high elo solo Q). I think the problem with Talon still remains, he doesn't have any escape after escaping. You can argue that his E can help him run away easily but I feel like in a game where your adc and mage somewhat decent at positioning (diamond and above) and your teammates protect you, there's no way a Talon could lay a hand on you. Then there's also the "gap closer" problem where a good opponent would know how to kite (specially with the popularity of Rylai) so that means that Talon would have to use his Q to gap closer. That would hurt him a lot in the dmg department. Then sure he can split push but right now, he will either face tanks (which he cannot kill) or champ like Jayce (who can one shot him if play correctly honestly). That's why I think he can only work in lower elo. Then for Kha and Rengar, I feel like they are easier to snowball and escape. But I don't see them pick in competitive cause again, in an organized team, no way in hell should they be able to lay their hands on your adc or mid. A good adc should not be isolated and not get the "unit vision"/jump on by Rengar.
Then we have Zed and Shaco. I feel like the core problems with them still remains before and after the preseason. Shaco is still super good at ganking, clearing camps, picking off people (for low elo solo Q) but he's still shaco. A good team should be able to deal with him (wards, sweeper, cc). Then with Zed, his weakness are still there (nerf cd on W, counter items, cc). If you are decent, you should also not get hit by multiple Q or E. And the additional AD on his ult is not something too amazing (unlike Rengar). Plus he also needs time (for their ADC to get strong).
Finally let's conclude with LB, Fizz and Kata. With Kata, i don't know yet how good she will be in the competitive scene but she sure has a bigger skills cap now which can provide a lot of potential. But her problems remain with her weak laning phase (she's going to get dick on by control mages) and of course getting cc down. With Fizz, he has more aoe now which makes him a lot better in team fight. Plus he's still Fizz with his one shot and annoying E. But the same problem with Kata is applied to him: his laning. Otherwise, if he can survive that, I think he's pretty solid. Personally I feel like LB is quite (maybe even very) strong right now. She has a super strong trade (even worse than before her rework) during the laning with her W in (wave + champ) -> auto attack -> W out -> wait 1 sec -> Q the wave. That should proc her passive and thunderlord if her opponent stand too close to the minion wave. Which will gives her one of the strongest trade in mid lane with a short amount of time. If they don't then they may lose some cs. Plus now, she can use her global ult to scout for vision to then all in someone if need to. She also has better wave clear. Overall I do think her early and mid games are a lot stronger than before. But her late got a lot worse since she cannot do well in the poke war anymore. So basically the new LB will be next to useless in the late game if she's not fed.
I'm open to discussion, just please don't flame me and give me constructive arguments if you disagree with me. I'm new here and everything above was what I deduced from watching pro streams and vids on Youtube. :)
TL;DR: Zed = still bad Talon, Shaco = good in low elo solo Q Rengar, Kha = good in all elo solo Q. Fizz, Kata = bad laning but can be really good LB = strong and can be play in competitive Thoughts?
