Is it just me or some of these champs just super strong though; 2 shot by Zyras' with 1 item, Brand ( a already strong champ) just doing even more damage then he was. It feels like its getting to the point where they both are just must ban champs. Did this patch really fix things for them or just give them a heavy upper hand?

This patch was done to give the power back to the mages, since they are supposed to be powerful. And yes they are very strong, but their base damage was nerfed a TON. Malzahar is missing out on about 650 base damage, and relies almost entirely on his W. Kill the first minion, and useless.
There will always be a class that is Powerful. It's something we will just have to deal with. We had heavy tank metas, heavy adc metas, and heavy assassin metas. At least Riot rotates them around a bit. I'v played games where one class is OP over all for years at a time and it gets boring.
