ARAM Snowball

I'm not too impressed with this ability. All the characters that crushed before now just crush even harder. Beefy tanks were the new kings even before this change even happened, and some of the real killers that aren't supposed to have strong engage became even more monstrous (I'm looking at you Annie).

While my friends and I love aram for a casual quick game a couple times a week, with the addition of the snowball takes the pace of team fighting too far from a standard match.

Riot is trying to create aram hype with new map and event. When the problem is ......the addition of snowball.

So you want all the range and no counter? 40sec cd is plenty on mark.

i'd like to be able to practice my teamfighting without having an assassin dash onto one of my teammates behind me kill them and then use their mobility spell to escape before my ping even catches up to me.

Are you serious? I like being poked standing behind my turret by 4 enemy ranged champs. If someone can dash onto your teammate, assassinate you, and escape then you should practice more, and get better reaction. Only one that could do that is leblanc. But she's not ranged. If you want mark removed, then turret range should be a lot bigger, because now even with mark it's a huge disadvantage having melee vs having ranged comp. Poke wins aram, not mark.. NERF POKE It takes much more skill playing melee champs. Ranged champs don't need to go in and get hit by 5 people to do damage. Melee champs do. Playing ranged adc takes MUCH MUCH less skill.

AMYS GRAVE2 votes

no argument that playing ranged takes less skill, i agree there.

leblanc is ranged.

zed can mark, if it hits place his w behind his team, dash, q,e, w back behind his team and be back in under 100 ms, and take 10% of your health + the damage the spells do thanks to his passive. 100 ms is you average east coast ping so you know, he will be back before you even see that he is there. When their mark dash combos are faster than you ping its not a skill issue, its a game health issue. (similar combo with leblanc) there are many many more examples here of champs that can go all in and not even use their mobility to engage the way they are intended to.

meanwhile against VI you can cancel her ult entirely every time she tries because mark dash makes you untargetable. so VI doesn't even get an ult in aram anymore. other high impact abilities suffer the same fate oriana, nami, and naut ults come to mind

realistically mark dash gives some champions unhealthy trade combos and takes a great deal away from champions that didn't have a lot in aram to begin with.

It sounds like you would want this added to SR too, but that's my beef with it. i want to practice teamfighting, but when the teamfights are so dramatically different due to added mobility on everyone they aren't comparable to teamfights on SR.

pripustas1 votes

Why would I want this added on SR? You get a random champ in ARAM. How are you gonna practice team fight, if you have 3 assassins and 2 tanks on your team? And the poke is fair? Range very unbalanced on SR as it is, and there you at least have a chance to counter pick. But in ARAM it's all random. I see no problem with mark whatsoever. About that 100ms ping bullshit idk how can this ping be average. I play on EUW, and I'm from eastern europe. I have 39ping on euw and 29 on eune. If you cannot react in time because of lag, don't blame mark. Blame your internet.

You learn to assess the tools your team has and fight around that.

And the poke is fair?

i never said it was, but this didnt solve that. most poke champions didn't see a fall in play rates or win rates.

About that 100ms ping

yeah, it sucks and there is nothing we can do about it. Coming from EUW your connection is more direct, ping has less to do with distance than it has to do with the number of times your packet is rerouted. From EUW it probably goes through 3-4 routers to get to riots servers, but from the east coast to get to NA servers it goes through 10-15 routers. It has very little to do with my local connection and everything to do with the geography and infrastructure of the internet. None of that changes the unhealthy trading combos that these hyper mobile champions have achieved thanks to mark/dash.

pripustas1 votes

Isn't that the same, as if they would flash trough a wall? Or jump out of bushes? That is exactly the same. And at least you can see snowball coming. You get random champions. You can't pick champions for initiation and mobility. It's random. So mark balances things out a bit.

Isn't that the same, as if they would flash trough a wall? Or jump out of bushes?

they can still do that here too.

You get random champions. You can't pick champions for initiation and mobility. It's random.

right, but when you get those champions you have a natural advantage, and i understand that some champions will always be stronger than others,

So mark balances things out a bit.

but mark hasn't made immobile champions stronger than their mobile counterparts, it has made mobile ones even stronger. so it hasn't actually solved the problem that it set out to solve.

pripustas1 votes

So your suggestion is making immobile champions inferior, because mobile champions get more mobility? That solves nothing. At least you have a chance with mark. And often mobile champions don't take mark, they take other spells.

AMYS GRAVE1 votes

No, i'm pointing out that mark/dash has not helped the immobile champions with reference to the mobile ones. It just hasn't. It has helped the mobile ones more. I'm not saying that things can't be done to balance aram better but mark/dash has hurt that.

Really wish they would admit they dun goofed and just completely remove the ability. I think the day it was announced on the PBE I made a post saying it was a decision that comes from a poor understanding of how ARAM works and that it wouldn't help whatsoever. Lo and behold everything I said would happen happened.

It's relatively balanced for what it does. It's slow, easy to dodge, and it's not always favorable to follow though with the dash. But it's good enough when it does work. And the Cooldown nerf makes it so that it's not dominating. (and not a must pick anymore)

If it's not crowding out other Summoners. It's probably fine.
