What is traditional mage?

well to i think a traditiona mage is some like annie or malz. Taliya was released and called a traditional mage but i dont think she fits. So i was wondering what does riot consider a traditional mage.

Lots of big casts, area coverage, low to no mobility boosts. Taliyah only has her wall run outside of combat and her ult which is more of a setup. In an actual fight she is a spell flinger with no blink type abilities. Hope to see more heros released without constant high mobiltity spam abilities.

What the mean by traditional Mage is that her kit which is obviously APand doesn't revolve around any weird mechanic like Aurelion, illaoi, and azir who's kits are based around one that one mechanic. Though Taliyah does blur the line a little between traditional Mage and no traditional with her Worked ground. However it only affects her Q and not the rest of the kit, which is why they consider her a traditional Mage. Hope this helps!

A mage with mobility is an assassin

A mage with shields/buffs/etc is a utility mage

A mage with tankiness is a "battle mage"

If you have none of the above you're either a traditional mage or a niche one ( Heimerdinger AurelionSol )

Push and roam cc and magic damage

Taliyah is a great pusher, a great ganker, but doesn't have a ton of mobility or duel potential so she tends to stay in the back line if she has a choice.
