Turn Fiddlesticks W into Lucian passive or Swain Q

BLACKPINK LlSA··104 votes·4,558 views

Lucian Passive would switch to another target if the first hit kills it. This is also the same with Swain Q. Both abilities switch targets as long as the duration is still going. I'm wondering if this will be good for Fiddle W. It would tremendously help with wraiths and overall jungle clearing, though I feel like it will be too strong when killing lane minions, so its damage might get reduced if this change will be applied.

Having it switch targets for full duration would be fine, even on champs.

Only when it kills the target, else... why...

Because then I have something besides me being bad to explain how that enemy ADC escaped with only 20 health.

He has E to clear chickens and infinite sustain.

One thing they could buff is: -increase his base damage (some stuff needs +1 AA to be cleared, smallest krugs for example) -make his E bounce off him like old Ryze W (but that would make him OP in some scenarios)

-make his E bounce off him

That was actually on the PBE a few months ago, but for some reason they settled on a cooldown change on it instead.

Velzard of Koz5 votes

I don't remember If there was any official stance on that, but I'd guess it would be OP in duels. If there was nothing else to bounce off, you just Q them to give them basically very little space to react, E+W and they are taking giant amount of damage for free.

2 seconds (approximately): W 160 - 360 (+90%AP) E 130 - 290 (+90%AP) Total 290 - 650 (180%AP)

Currently (approximately): W 160 - 360 (+90%AP) E 65 - 145 (+45%AP) Total 225 - 505 (+135%AP)

Difference 65 - 145 (+45%AP), saving 12 - 10 - 6 seconds of Cooldown and 50 - 90 Mana.

Now it doesn't look that much more OP in the scenario where enemy reacts and cancels the tether immediately, but it might have proven during tests to be oppressive lategame and giving very little counter.

in all fairness if you battled him for over 3 mins so he can cast all those, should he not have been able to kill you? A 3 min battle seems to point to him being underpowered or needing more damage.

Actually this would be of immense help for lane fiddle, where he is also subpar. Lane fiddle doesn't have good waveclear or a good way to kill minions. He either maxes his e which is not that great at clearing while also losing the strength of his w, or maxes his w and gets shoved in and loses cs.

Gosh Darn5 votes

This is the only change Fiddle has needed for ages. I don't know why they thought barely buffing the base damage of his W would help when he has 2 points in it at rank 3 and it's already barely higher than the old damage at that point.

The drain switching would buff jungle Fiddle without putting lane Fiddle in a dangerous position that gets jungle Fiddle nerfed.

Maybe this wouldn't be necessary: Fiddle is an AP champion with a strong focus on DPS and is very weak to burst damage. In this meta, imho he sorely needs any help he can get.

would make his laning insane. he would farm creeps so easy

Catastrop4 votes

Not really? Have you seen the mana cost on Drain and the fact that he needs to stand still for it? Dark Wind better waveclear in general because it's safer and farther range.

All Day Tay Tay1 votes

but its less reliable, because it bounces to targets it hasnt hit yet as priority. if you have a LOT of ap, ya dark wind works, but if the drain would auto target after killing something, it would be a go to for farming. obviously it has the downsides you listed, but thats no matter what. if you end up against a lux or morgana or someone else that cant cc you out of it, you can just drain tank it

reaperteaser1 votes

it would help his jgl more so, not sure thats a good thing, his e is pretty good at farming jgl creeps

All Day Tay Tay1 votes

considering you normally go through the entire drain before killing something, not really. it could help with raptors the most, just start lasering all of the little ones, but raptors are meant to be hard for someone like fid who is mostly single target. giving him an auto target laser will make that too easy

kile1472 votes

He needs jungle help though, so shoring up one of his weaknesses would be a good way to do that.

All Day Tay Tay1 votes

ill admit that. but auto target drain isnt the way to go

but what would you trade off for it, fiddle ( as annoying as he is ) is pretty well balanced and if you wanted to increase his AoE dmg, how would you pay for it, there would have to be a cost somewhere to keep him on an even keel.

The entire point of this is that he is not well balanced and needs a buff.

Aquafuge1 votes

My point is fiddle is basically an assassin type champ, he isn't built for extended trades, by making his drain into effectively an AoE sustain there should be a trade off, would you reduce his darkwind ability, his ult. He has high damage low cd abilities that do AoE damage already, he has a huge ton of CC already, by giving him a lot more sustain how would you even that out?

Bobovich1 votes

Read the post, its not AoE in any way.

He does not have low CD abilities.

Fid needs help, all fid players know this....

kile1471 votes

He's doing a little bit below average right now actually. He has a fairly low play rate and a sub-par win rate even with experienced players. This change wouldn't directly impact his ability to fight other players and would just help with his sustain and clears slightly in niche cases. This wouldn't be an increase in AoE damage at all, all it would do is allow him to be a little less picky about his target selection on his W.

Aquafuge1 votes

That is his weakness/counterplay he has to be discriminate with his drain and terror to make up for darkwind and crowstorm. If his drain is made AoE would you make his darkwind single target? A low pllay rate is not always an indicator or weakness, just less broken.

kile1472 votes

You keep saying his drain would be AoE when that's not what this is proposing at all, it would not do damage to more than one target at a time. It would remain single target but would allow for switching targets mid duration if the current target dies. This likely wouldn't even increase his overall damage.

His play rate is very low (~1%) which is less than just "not Flavor of the Month". Fidd is a champ who can basically only play jungle yet his play and win rate are more on par with champs like Rumble and Talon, who were never intended to play jungle and are extremely off meta.

In lane sustain might be problematic, but with the amount of burst that's skillshot reliant (and thus guaranteed if he's standing still) , perhaps not.

What about top lane? Catalyst first into RoA to not be oneshot (and mana), can farm with W, Q into any aggression or E. That's an absurdly safe lane, and Fiddle's scales well into teamfighting... tops scaling well with a super safe lane are an issue (Gangplank , except Fiddle's even safer)

My only problem is this: Have it not prioritize champions on switching if he targeted a minion. I don't want him to be peacefully healing off minions and then randomly start hitting me. Yes, the range isn't too great, but that's still a long way to walk as a melee champion, and the leash to break is much larger than it's range.

SH Azykan1 votes

actually would be kinda like how you could intentionally take a malz e bounce before to slow down his shove quite a bit, knowing when it will bounce and where could make you able to take the drain and immediately break the tether making him waste it. or a good fiddle could w a super low minion and have it jump to you when you think it would be safer to go in.

Except, well, you know, you can't immediately break Fiddle tether that easily because the tether length is twice as long as the cast range, and if you're expending your dash to do that, well you don't have a dash to go in anymore.

SH Azykan3 votes

are we assuming that we are limiting the jump to just fiddles cast range? though the situations where you would take it closer to max range would be more limited (like it jumping from a melee to a caster minion) it could theoretically still be a thing

Am I the only one using Fid as a Support? E spam with its safe range bounce and silence is a very effective lane harassment tool and teamfight skill giving adcs an edge for your team.

I dont like fiddle jg, as there are too many assassins lurking who can 100 to 0 him before he can fear and get enough distance to survive.

Im often the highest damage output on my team as support. Ge doesnt have old Zyras output capability but its more reliable now and effective from a distance. Fid also has manu sneaky support like answers to enemy attacks eith his fear, drain, and silence bounce.

I like to rush slow items and an HP item on him as support afterwards. The blue active slow on the support item is nice on fid as is Ryalis, but sometimes Ill go RoA instead or Zhonyas depending on opposition comp. And ability

I get demonized by some adcs but those with an open mind are often surprised by fiddles control in lane as support. It does vamp some cs away but Fid can easily zone enemies from farming and E spam grind them down so they are scared to engage due to hp disadvantage.

just play a few times wasn't like Malz or Zyra

I've been trying it lately (somewhat to troll but also because I maintain it has promise) and you can get some nasty poke out with a thunderlords and one good bounce. Plus you're still holding one of the last point-and-click CC's left in the game, very useful for junglers or roaming mid-assassins. Close-ranged yes, but the value of a definite, get the hell away from my carry ability cannot be underappreciated on a support.

Also, a rarity among supports, given a little time alone with a cannon minion or just running up to deal with scuttle for a bit and you can restore a lot of health even if you get low.

Personally I'll try to poke and generally protect my carry until 6, at which point I try to roam mid for a gank, they simply never see it coming. Botlane rarely sees the ult coming either, to be fair, I've been pushed up to turret and decided to ult right over the wall at them. I dunno why they don't expect it- just because I'm going support doesn't mean I won't use my ult.

Flemman1 votes

would be clunky visually.

on the other hand, if somethnig walk in the drain, it' should ake the spell aggro. That way you add some counter to the spell but allow some powerup elsewhere (the fear need love the most imo)

Chaos Milk Tea1 votes

Fiddles needs a new kit entirely. He's a bit of a mess, lol. What is he? A mage? A duelist? He's just a champion who can jungle without a team function.

Jmman2 votes

The issue is he has the same damage of the other mages if you stand still and next to a minion. If you don't then he is a support mage damage.

When you compare him to ANY meta mage. That Mage has the same damage at fiddle whole kit with just 3 non ult spells. Fiddle CAN"T 100% you without an ult. I think there are ALOT of mages that can atm.

So his damage needs to be more front loaded / dots rather they if they stand still. ATM about ever META champs has high mobility and cancels fiddle kit. Since all new champs have mobility then they need to change how his damage is dealt.

Q is now a skill shot Does some damage and puts an effect on the if hit by another attack target if feared. does good damage

W if Drain target if feared the dot will heal you and closest ally.

this makes him better for the team and added more skill shot to fear. Also can increase his damage with the skill cap.

the problem is you can't give champs everything under the sun in their kits while not looking at older champs kits.

Chaos Milk Tea3 votes

His passive, fear, ultimate, silence, and jungle role all paint him as an AP assassin. Sadly, all his damage is on one ability and it requires him to give up the chase and tank hits.

Jmman2 votes

yep.

I love the assassin cry about balance but never thinking about this.

inplane1 votes

Seeing how clunky his W can get, I think Fiddlesticks should get this QoL buff. It's the least he can get right now.

LightningShado1 votes

But I mean..... Fiddlesticks is just so weak in this meta currently.

I think this is a really good idea but there needs to be some other mechanic in place... not sure about what exactly but considering that he's standing still, you shouldn't be able to just leave your keyboard alone and potentially getting a pentakill lol

I think it would be cool if you had stuff to do while standing still, like, if his tether kills his target, you inmediately lock onto another but you can also cast skills without breaking the channel as long as you stand still... it would be awesome to cast his ult while draining someone!

Fiddlesticks seems to need a rework that gave his gameplay a bit more depth either way

Zane Zephyr1 votes

If people think it would make lane fiddle too strong maybe it can just do like 75% damage to lane minions (or after it kills the first target) or something.

SpecterVonBaren1 votes

They'd probably make it so you can't choose your target then, as, "compensation".

junglerboy161 votes

They'd have to nerf the damage and healing slightly, otherwise his clear speed would go through the roof (just imagine power clearing raptors and krugs with it)

Within a team fight situation, I think it would only be mildly beneficial since there are very few cases as fiddlesticks where one actually runs out the full duration on drain (and with enough CDR, it's on greater than 100% uptime anyway). The only real advantage I see from it is reducing his late game mana costs, at which point I'd prefer a more direct buff anyway, not something finicky and situational.

Pornstar1 votes

I prefer the old fiddlesticks back in the days. People kept complaining OP OP OP, please nerf, well now he's a piece of sheit.

If you change his drain, you really screw Fiddlesticks. What make Fiddlesticks a unique champion from others? Well, he is not an action per second clicker, he is more of a decision maker. If you change his core style, you might as well create a new champion instead.

Pornstar1 votes

to be honest, the community give horrible ideas which turn the game worst than it actually was back in the days.

this sounds like a great buff for those damn chickens.
