I think S's on supports have been harder since 6.14

I haven't been able to get a single S or S- on a support since 6.14.

I'm not sure how rito calculates this but its just dumb. I placed 21 wards and destroyed 7, helped take so many towers, utilized my active items in team fights, absorbed skill shots for our back line, set up for every dragon and overall helped carry the team.

I feel like since the "supports S rank" were made "easier" its been much harder to get an S- let alone an S or S+.

6.14 patch notes

http://na.leagueoflegends.com/en/news/game-updates/patch/patch-614-notes#patch-champion-mastery

Mastery grade calculations for supports will be adjusted during this patch. " Since we introduced mastery levels 6 & 7, support players felt even more incentivized to snipe kills to pad their stats and improve their chance at an S or S+. We’re re-tuning the system, sorting out some additional variables so supports get more credit for support-y game-winning plays. "

MEASURE OF A MANATEE Support grades now better reflect relative performance in the role

SWIPER NO SWIPING Support grades specifically weigh assists equal to kills, leaving one fewer excuse for bloodthirsty Flash-Ignites

I have to agree. Support grading feels tougher now.

21 wards in a 42 minute game is pretty terrible

Hella Kaiser7/28/2016, 2:15:28 PM3 votes

no, you just need to KS more.

Ok support mains we get its harder to get an s but thats is in fact because the only people that play support are support mains(and few tank top mains)... and usually support mains know what they are doing while for example mid lane there will always be that first time zed which brings down the overall score of the champion. This is also why most supports have good winrates

got a S on nami yesterday, so i dunno. [zombie-brand-clap]

As you're someone who clearly plays mostly support, I'd say this is probably why...

1.7 / 6.0 / 9.6 Average 1.88:1 KDA (Kill Participation 36%)

Also, you only made 13k gold in a 42 minute match.

Consistently getting an S on various supports is actually one of the easiest things I've done in a competitive online game. It's honestly not even funny how ridiculously easy it was, and still is, to do. And I'm a Jungle/Top "main".

In the past 15 support games or so I've not gotten an S maybe 2-3 times. Not even joking.

Matter of fact, my last Taric support game (post 6.14) I got roughly the same gold as you in only a 27 minute match. Was an extremely easy flat S for me. I also had more damage done in that short amount of time, more pinks bought/dropped, and more cs in relics.

Sounds like a L2Play issue to me.

Good.. It was way too easy to get S on a support.

I've had some superb matches where I didn't get an S, and others where I merely did well and got an S. I compared raw stats, ratios, wards/min, etc. on a single champ...and can't find a good way to tell what justifies the difference between an S and an A. Since late 6.14 I've earned a few more S ranks than I was previously, but I can't tell if it's from a change or just a blip because I can't find an underlying set of KPIs to justify the difference.

Getting an S on supports was easy previously...but it was by taking kills instead of doing what's best for the team. I'm glad they changed it to treat assists and kills equally, but the underlying issue remains. They will never be able to tell the difference between a good support making plays - putting down good wards instead of just counting the number of wards, or saving a teammate that doesn't result in a kill.

Edit: That said, I've gotten S/S+ on my last 4 lulu matches, so....

You need to KS some. You're more likely to get an S if you get a few kills with your assists.

CeexSett7/28/2016, 12:56:12 PM1 votes

It's pretty skewed, actually.

1/3/31 game with multiple wards placed and destroyed, was a 40 minute game, got A.

4/3/13 game, was a 25 minute stomp, got an S.

Before I was getting S's very regularly but now I get them far less because I usually was (and still am) getting a couple of kills as support.

Sohleks7/28/2016, 2:24:00 AM1 votes

Well I guess it WOULD be harder IF before you were grabbing lots of kills to get grade (because that was too effective before)

I don't see a lot of kills there though so that doesn't make much sense.

If the invisible "standard" is the same as before though but 1 kill is only 1 assist unlike before then it would be harder. But you would think it doesn't work like that... Riot..? Because people were complaining grade wasn't rewarding the right things for support the most you would imagine Riot wouldn't JUST make it harder lol. Because that wouldn't make sense...

And that was one of my worst warding matches so bad example lol

Here is an S- despite my 9 deaths

Not sure since I already got esses on all my support champs other than Sona whom I just bought and so far as good as I've got with her is an a. So you might be right but I feel like I rely on my allies a lot for my performance with Sona and a lot of other champs. When they are constantly feeding the enemies for no reason it makes it hard to even win much less perform well enough to get an ess.

I've found it to be much easier to get S on supports since the patch.

The thing is you can't just have a good game and go "how did I not get an S? I played super well". Playing well doesn't give you a S. You got to be great. A great support for that is Bard : His roaming and kill potential is extremely high, and it's relatively easy to end the game much earlier than the game you've shown here with a higher kill participation too.

You got to make plays. Sitting next to your carry and peeling is good, but if you're letting them get the job done while all you do is protect them, you're doing what's expected of you, not above it. Getting a S on any role usually means that without you, this game would have went a least a fair bit different. Anyone can peel, but not anyone can make plays.

It's also why netting S ratings on supports like Janna (and Taric too somewhat) is a bit hard, as most of the time your job is letting your playmakers make plays. Which works great if you have a super reliable Tristana ADC who knows what she's doing, but in the case where you don't have a great player that you can boost with your peeling/buffing potential, it can be pretty brutal to earn anything over A, as peeling doesn't necessarily affect your kill%, while picking off people definitely does.

CerealBoxOfDoom7/28/2016, 7:16:47 PM1 votes

its because now you have to also compete with people who don't just try to ks their team for the S
