Is it too late to learn another role?

I'm relatively new to LOL- I've played about 110 games. I've played an ADC role for about 85 of those games. When I learned the game, I started with Ashe, and she's my preferred champion. As a result, I've gotten pretty comfortable with her.

I'm now at level 21.

The problem is, when someone else takes the ADC role, I used to take top lane, but never felt like I was good as a tank. So I'd like to try a new role, like jungle. But if I try to learn a brand new role now, won't I get destroyed, and just drag my teams down? How do you learn a new role and not ruin it for your team? Should I just play a ton of custom-bot games? Any advice? Thanks.

When i was new, id run a couple customs just to learn the raw basics.. After that you gotta just keep practicing, its actually good to be familiar with every role as it helps you understand the game much better.

I suggest watching videos and streams of thoses particular roles before going in a game with it. Learn the theory behind the role.

For exemple, if you were to learn adc, you would have to know how to kite, when to farm, how to AA cancel, what are your strenghts and weaknesses, how to play against a fed assassin or a fed mage, who you should focus during teamfights, ect before playing the role.

It's important to be able to play each roles somewhat correcly : It will allow you to have a better comprehension of the game and could help you in rank.

It's never too late to learn a new role. And you don't have to play tanks in top lane, by the way. Since you like adc, why don't you pick up Quinn and give her a go up there?

-Know the basics of the role, and help your team if you are unsure about your lane. Don't play so safe that you are staying under tower the whole game. -Tanks aren't the only champs that usually go top. (Fighters, marksmen, pretty much anything) -If you are really afraid of dragging your team down, maybe play with friends that understand you are practicing. -But don't be afraid to practice in a real game environment(normals), that's the best way to learn.

Once I tried a champion I was familiar with (RekSai ), and went top(a lane I am not very familiar with). I won because I understood the champion, and the basics of the lane.

You probably know the basics like playing safe and basic csing, that's most of what you need to know for all the lanes.

I hope this helps, but it probably won't :|Amumu

Is it too late? No, not at all.

How do you learn (a new champ, better to focus on a single champ, not the role as a whole)?

  • A few Co-op vs AI to understand how the champ works
  • A few Blind to see how real humans play against (because Bots are just so dumb)
  • A few Normal to test some real match-ups; get ready to be destroyed by counter-picks, and understand why they are counter-picks and how you minimize your losses against them.

Then you're ready to go.
