Smite Nerf.... Really?

"Pre-season’s changes have given junglers too much early-game power. We’ll continue investigating early clears as we move into the new year, but for the moment, Smite’s sustain is going down so junglers can’t convert their early advantage into lane pressure so efficiently."

I really don't know what riot is doing anymore with the jungle. The champ pool for the jungle has been shrinking and shrinking, and now because the few op junglers that can actually survive clearing the raptor army are able to gank early, they decide to nerf smite.

This change only makes the strong junglers stronger, and the weak junglers weaker. The good junglers right now like hecarim, shyvana, and ivern are not going to feel this nerf whatsoever.

I know I am biased as somebody who likes to play off meta junglers, but even champions that used to be really good junglers are already struggling to clear camps without dying.

The impact god tier junglers have over tier 1 and tier 2 junglers is bigger than it ever has been, and they keep making changes that widen the gap.

Changes the jungle actually needs:

Nerfs on those goddamn raptors that are impossible to kite and impossible to tank. Making the jungle more Mage friendly. Buffing Gromp a little because it feels too easy now. Nerfs on refillable potion?\

EDIT: Rito wants to tune down junglers ability to gank with near full HP so early. So nerf refillable, and buff hunter's potion. Then their power would be after the first back and their early ganks wouldnt be as potent

Ya that is literally the worst possible way to balance the jungle I can think of. This company makes billions of dollars and this is what they come up with? Can you guys pay someone who has half a brain please?

Riots jungle balancing philosophy: "If Lee Sin can do it, everyone can!"

No, the early game jungle IS incredibly strong right now.

You can clear every camp except raptors with a near full health bar the entire time on almost every single jungler now. You can't kill on an early invade anymore in the early game, or even want to try it because the first clear is so efficient. It's too easy and JGs can enter lanes before their first back almost every game with a lot of health and level advantage.

This is a nerf to the impact of the jungle overall, not champ specific.

I love how this happens every season. Riot updates the jungle, Riot nerfs some base aspect of the jungle, and the gods of the jungle continue to go unchallenged.

And of course Riot is looking to enforce a certain meta. They haven't done anything to bot lane since the game's inception, even though one playstyle/strategy CLEARLY is superior once it was learned how efficient it was.

Hardly even needed a leash with that heal before. Dont kill raptors early unless you have smite up. Kill big raptor first and its really not that much dmg.

Lol it's 30 less flat HP. Jesus, maybe if you read the changes you'd realize it's not very much? Oh yeah, except then you wouldn't be able to farm for upvotes. I guess that's your biggest concern.

Right now the jungle is super easy to survive (except for raptors, ignore them) which results in junglers being able to farm and gank afterwards without needing to go back. That means that the jungler is very often the one with the highest level while also not being bound to one lane. Junglers have way too much impact and imo they either need to make the jungle more dangerous (by nerfing smite) or nerf the bonus xp given by the items.

You are misinterpreting the purpose for the nerf. Yes the nerf effects all junglers such that only "meta" junglers become viable, but it was made so that the junglerts would have less impact on the early game. If a jungle champ is in the gutter, they can buff them later. They are solving the long term problem first. This is a far better solution than nerfing EVERY "meta" jungler and buffing others, which would only create a new "meta" without solving the current problems with junglers in the early game.
