Community fix
Well, I've been thinking lately, which for League of Legends player is neither common, nor obvious. Recently I am in my placements on EUW after a year long break and I'm having insanely hard time fighting my way up. I get it, twelve months of not playing League can make you rusty and 'not-in-the-zone'. I truly understand. What I don't understand, is the amount of negativity and bad attitude in the community. How? Why? How is it possible that after 10 years online, there is still no way of separating toxic players from non-toxic? Sure, technically you aren't able to tell if someone leaving the game had rage quit, or had technical issues. From strictly technical point of view there is no difference. But I believe that you are able to tell, if someone is toxic or not. There are measureable factors, which can give you an overall view on the player:
- win rate (ofc),
- amount of time spent typing, along with usage of such words as 'noob', 'lame', 'better jungler', 'jungle difference' and other commonly knows as offending,
- number and types of pings (if someone spam pings 'question mark' all the game and no other pings, don't tell me he's signalling MIA),
- number of surrender votes submitted, also type of them (YES/NO),
- number and type of reports received/submitted,
- number of times getting muted,
- honor votes given and received,
- overall stats compared to average (grade, dmg dealt, healing/shielding done, K/D/A etc.),
- inting reports compared to KDA,
- verbal abuse compared to time spent typing,
- griefing reports compared to surrender votes. Clearly anylizing these, you should be able to tell if someone is better than others, or not. Sorry, but the division and hidden MMR system is not working correctly, despite of many attempts. The reports system is fine, but I think it's not enough. You created one of the biggest and most popular games in world's history. I bet you have some smart guys there in Riot Games able to create an algorythm collecting and analyzing aforementioned data. For me, a regular person, it's unimaginable to have 17 out of 20 games lost due to griefing, feeding or/and toxic team mates. Statistically it should be distributed rather even, what's more, chances that I have toxic team mates are statistically lower, provided that I am not toxic. I am old enough not to get tilted by small things. I am worried and sad when I get flamed after the game for not doing anything wrong. I'd like to smash one or two on the Summoners Rift after the work, chillax and rest, and not have to quarrel with 12 yo kid, who thinks he's the smartest person in the world for no reason. I would like to not have my mother insulted by individuals, who could be my own children. Maybe if someones constantly, stubbornly refuses to follow Summoners Code, he should be punished more severely? If someone's typing a lot and losing a lot, maybe he should be forbidden to type? Maybe if someone keeps submitting surrender vote, should be stripped of this possibility? Maybe they should be in lower division? Maybe their mechanics and game knowledge are diamond level, but their mental capabilities are Bronze? I wish you considered those.
See you on Summoner's Rift.
