So I just had my 3rd promos to plat and in every single one of them there has been someone afking or someone picking zed for support. In normal ranked games I don't get any of these afkers or anything. I don't know if riot just doesn't want me to get plat this season or is my luck just so bad.

Eh. It took me 10 promos to get to plat. You just have to keep trying.
