Sometimes when i play really long games i can get to about 10k spare and full build, which is annoying because you see yourself slowly falling even if you're ahead. By doing cheap builds you can be easily countered by your enemies more expensive builds later on, even though you have that 10k...

As an option all i can do is switch the build situationally. but many times i feel that already have the right build and keep the rest of the game only buying consumables.

My suggestion is that there could be more than 6 items on your bag, so that you can fully use the gold you have and not get capped. As a way to compensate, the incremention of the 7th(or 8th) item slot should be made through the payment of a large amount of gold( in my opinion, a large 2-3k or more), so that not everybody would get it unless they really have the full build and a lot to spare, and because it is a great advantage, of course.

I think this would be a way to bring even more options for late game and to basically not get gold thrown to waste. :)

An item cap means that a team far behind can catch up and be on equal footing if you let the game go on too long, no matter how far ahead you were. At the least, it's an incentive for people to use their advantage while they have it, instead of just being able to get farther and farther ahead. They shouldn't have that kind of advantage if they're too lazy to make use of it before the other team catches up.

make it possible to buy new item slots :p

It also means you have to trade off cost efficiency and slot efficiency. This unfortunately has been neglected in league as top tier items start getting more and more cost effective than their mid tier equivalents. What we need are more Shivs, Ghostblades, and yes, Atmas back, rather than everyone rushing IE and Triforce.

I coulds see better elixers which give basically power plays but a time but not better items.

Say having elixirs stack up to 3 times but it cost double for each stack and only gives the stated stats of the elixer for 3 of them or something like that. aka for 3 elixer stacks it would cost 400 +800 + 1600 = 2800 gold for a 3 minute mega buff.

^ Yes that. Or a "buy alive" something like 5k- You buy it when you are dead and you are back to life.
