He is terrible against all adc's. Literally. I love to play him its just i get out scaled and cant sustain against the other adc.

Youre right. He has no mobility. Hes worthless as an ADC.

Take him mid-lane though? Unless your opponent is rushing zhonyas, once you get that BF sword you do 350+ damage with ONE weakened Q. If you land two or three Qs post six, and your opponent isnt annie, you can EASILY snare and kill.

As an ADCASTER and not an ADCARRY Varus does very well. Hes got more in common with graves and corki than he does with caitlyn and tristana. (All of them, however, have mobility).

Rather than rely on auto attacks and crit, you rely on Q and R to burst people down and kill them. Its a much more fun playstyle than #rightclicktowin. But it doesnt work well against tanks unless you get ahead, and it doesnt work well in the bottom lane because you get zoned, being immobile.

Yeah. Its viable up until S1~G5. Around that point people will start to counterpick/itemize against you. Althought you can really screw up enemy team comps by swapping to bottom lane if your ADC is getting behind.

Only in normals. Varus has no mobility and is squishy, so every midlaner can duel him and push him out of lane... not to mention he is an easy kill for every jungler.

However if you know how to play Varus, playing him as ADC is not that bad. He's more like a utility ADC similar to Ashe, so your team has to have a little bit more dmg to compensate.

Ah, I see. Varus was my main for a long time in unranked games. If I ever ended up playing him in ranked it would probably only ever be in a premade team specifically because of all the points you mentioned. xD

but youre doing that anyway.

i get what you mean. but most ad carry items allow him to do that and actually auto attack like an ad carry. the only real difference would probably be to get ionians instead of zerkers for boots. but otherwise, youre probably just going to build i.e. and last whisper, and ghostblade.

lets say youre building item 3031 item 3035 item 3070 (simply for sustain, into item 3042 ) item 3277 item 3153 and a defensive item, or item 3142 for a bit more cdr and duelleing power, lets you do pretty much exactly the same.

the only major difference between "ad carry varus" and "ad caster varus" is just the boots. there isnt actually a difference.

But there is o.o Powerspikes and lane dominance; If midlane varus gets ahead, he STAYS ahead until the lane phase is over. Caster varus also, generally, doesnt rely on crits to do most of his damage. Its why hes viable, for awhile, in the ranked mid lane.

traditional ADCs almost always buy crit as their first item, and their build is centralized around it. AD caster varus either never buys crit, or doesnt build around it. He builds raw AD, lifesteal, and penetration.

Is a stellar build. that works in ranked up until gold.

He's actually 1 of the strongest and easiest ADCs to take in lane. Nobody but lucian and draven can match that burst. You need a good support to keep theirs at bay, and you have to be wary of fast gap closing junglers. His lane phase isn't the problem.

But iv actually noticed some room to play him lately. Tanks are actually not what scare me on varus, he does well vs them. It's the assassins that fk u up, and right now people arnt playing them.
