Varus' pronoun

I had recently gotten into a heated conversation with a friend of mine on this topic and thought I would come to the content creators to clear up this topic. My friend got heated when I called Varus a "he" and proclaimed "that now we have confirmation he is 3 separate entities that Varus would need to be referred to as "them" instead. I thought he was joking, but it seems he was actually rather upset. That is why I've come asking this question so I can clear things up and figure out if i'm wrong to think Varus is still a "he" and not a "them."

If Varus in lore refers to himself as he/him then that's what you should use. Like...even if he's 3 entities they share one body and are merged together in a way...I can't explain it well but I would use he/him, to me it makes more sense.

I mean, do you call Ruby and Sapphire "they" when Garnet is around? No. She still goes by "she", and the entities used to form Varus are male so it's still "he".

Varus is a he as Varus is the name of the darkin, not all three of them. All three of them together don't have a name and probably won't ever. If you want to talk about all three of them, use all three names or just they. However, Varus is a he, as Varus is the darkin. Plus, even if they all combined were called Varus, he would still be the correct pronoun as Varus would be the name of the single entity they make up and they are all male.

Also, this should be in Story, Art, and Sound.

The specific entity "Varus" isn't the other two inside of Varus, so it's "he". Just like if Kayn was defeated by Rhaast, Rhaast isn't "Kayn and Rhaast". Rhaast is just Rhaast.

In that same way, Varus is Varus, the guy trying to take over two gay guys.
