2/24 PBE Update

What haz them done!?!1??6 Da heck, Rito ruined her...

Some of the changes (i think) between 6.4 PBE Soraka and 6.5 PBE Soraka included:

  • Enlightenment buff stays on Soraka when transferred to an Ally
  • Q slow was changed from 30 at all ranks to 30 - 50% scaling
  • W %hp cost reverted from 8% to 10%
  • movement speed reduced to 15% but is active during Enlightenment and doesn't proc when the buff is transferred
  • Q and W heal numbers were tweaked

If U were to compare current PBE Soraka to live (this is in regards to her general W build):

  • early-mid game survivability has been reduced (not sure as to how much they reduced her self heal)
  • her Q has more functionality and allows her to better contribute to crowd control
  • overall healing reduced depending on player's skill in landing Q (going by just W base numbers it's a tad lower; if U land Qs it'll be less noticeable; when U max Q and W, it'll be arguably a buff)
  • conditional movement speed bonus (i.e. only when not running towards an enemy, i.e. hope U don't get sandwiched =w=)
  • considering that soraka's self heal is gonna be a HoT, there are gonna be some crazy high hp regen resource values

They need to clarify if Soraka is still healed for each champion hit. I'd be disappointed if it didn't but the other changes to starcall would make it sorta manageable.

I do too. In a way I see why riot tried it, part of it is her old kit was a little simple and part of it was that Morello was all _derp-lulz, GW's Infuse Health is awesome. _ However, shoot meteors was broken because riot linked it to her heal in season 4 which people who took her mid and top were able to exploit (they didn't test the rework for her solo lane because QA is full of derps) and she shot past the renekton bar. Instead of unhooking the two skills which probably would have been the smarter thing to do, Morello finally got his opportunity to break her legs and we wound up with the thing she is now.

However I think that her rework caused her to be too conservative instead of a lane bully (she was always most fun to play as a bully) and I think the you get hurt as a healer never really fit her theme and should have been tried on a new champ. Right now she's good because most smart soraka players use their ADCs as meat shields because of how her W's health cost works, how she can't self heal anymore, and how bot lane is.

Riot is trying to get her to be more aggressive but they are moving in the wrong direction as the punishment on her W needs a self heal on her Q that is twice as good as the W's cost or people will always play her relatively safe. That said, too much self heal on her Q will defeat the purpose of the cost on her W so riot will never do that. In other words, she's going to be effectively a passive champ until riot reworks her W again.

I also think she doesn't have the damage or CC potential to encourage a more aggressive playstyle for a lot of her players.

Yeah, like she really had this field medic theme spanned out before. She provided tools for her allies and made exploitable openings through meddling enemies stats and stuff. Now she is just a friggin ambulance she isnt even fighting. I had tons of rakas these days that wont even use starcall and apply no pressure or zoning. This is what most people see in her now. Totally uninteractive.

I'd always been a fan of the super passive "You can't out-poke mah heal and there's nothing U can do about it" W build. Generally, I've been rushing AP/cdr on her and running hp regen-orientated runes and masteries. With the build I'm using people aren't expecting her effective hp to be as high as it turns out to be (10hp/sec by mid-game comes in handy). Like for a lot of melee AD champs, one tactic I use on the fly is placing a silence field in-between my opponent(s) and running towards them while Qing to buy time.

I think it might come from my background of playing healers in mmos, but I can't really ever see myself playing Soraka aggro. She's been my go-to pick for when I'm uncomfortable with my lane or lane opponents (i.e. every Summoner's Rift game, ever) and when I want a major, passive impact on the game. That, or maybe I just like reading how cancer ppl think her W build is in /allchat.

I think that's what riot is trying to get rid of. She was supposedly too passive before her rework and now she's more passive.

I definitely agree her heal was based on MMOs, specifically GW's 8v8 PvP modes. However, an infuse healer in GW had a second healer to heal him and generally had a mid line and a front line to protect him. We are seeing this in soraka players now as they are turning their ADC into a meat shield. This was my big concern when they announced the rework and it seems to have come true. Yes she's a great healer and she's very passive but she's warping the game a little too much because of how passive she is and how much she heals.

As for an aggro soraka, playing her as a bully in the top or mid lane used to be really fun. Basically you'd ward the river and try to shove the lane in as far as possible so the other guy couldn't easily farm or roam.

"She is so cancer after her rework. I really enjoyed pre-rework Soraka when she was the worst cancer of all". Like honestly.

you got that right bro. I applaud your memory and observations XD Yes, it was cancer and op but was satisfying and fun for the raka player because it prompted you to fight.

Riot ruined her in the first rework, thank you so much for reminding me of that.
