Bronzelords and Silverkings Complaining About Yasuo

BarneyStinsonYO··7 votes·772 views

Yeah so why is there such an over-abundance of players who have been stuck in trash tier ranks complaining about such an easily countered champion like Yasuo? How difficult is it to play the game in a proper fashion and exert to some rudimentary degree, things like self-analysis before deeming an entire champion unfit and unhealthy to the game. This really piques my interest because of all the champions in the game that deal with Yasuo in such an oppressive manner...

Oh and please consider the poll below.

Well, that depends. Why not elaborate why you think he's OP?

He limits the champion pool by existing, just like Lee Sin did in the s3 and s4 jungles. Also, with the new mastery, his old weakness of low sustain has been completely erased.

How? Just about any bruiser spanks his wind-bum harder than my grandmother did for cutting the neighbour's telephone line with a pair of scissors. Believe me, that's saying a LOT. Don't you think that MAYBE, people are picking champions they KNOW will not perform well enough against him because said champion is their "main"?

You're proving his point exactly... Yasuo limits the viable champion pool just by existing.

What if Yasuo + enemy mid hasn't been picked yet, and he wasn't banned? Whelp, half of the mid laners I could have played are at risk of getting Yasuo'd.

Having counters is a TERRIBLE argument as to why a champion is or isn't balanced. It doesn't matter that I can wreck Yasuo with Jax or Riven if I've already locked in Twisted Fate or Ahri.

Look at their kits instead.

E.g. comparing Yasuo to Ahri (a champion that's long been considered strong and has received nothing but nerfs since 5.2):

  • Yasuo has no mana problems, Ahri does
  • Yasuo's CC can hit multiple targets
  • Yasuo's CC is much easier to land on its own (passes through minions rather than blocked by them) Dropping Ahri's charm and Yasuo's whirlwind, since it's already established that the whirlwind is strong...
  • Yasuo has better sustained damage, and can take down towers more easily
  • Yasuo is arguably more mobile, his dashes require a target but aren't on his ultimate
  • Yasuo gets free stats via double crit
  • Yasuo has stronger burst with his ultimate
  • Yasuo's wind wall can block so many attacks and abilities, save turrets, and if used properly can deny the enemy adc from doing any damage in a teamfight
  • Yasuo's shield is arguably equal to Ahri's healing on her passive
  • Yasuo is tankier and has better base stats and base MS
  • Yasuo counters almost every non-melee mid laner (except Malzahar, Azir, and Lissandra as far as I can tell).

In compensation:

  • Ahri can attack from range
  • Ahri is better at kiting
  • Ahri can combo her ult / flash with her E (except Yasuo can also combo his dash / flash with his whirlwind so...)

Yet it's Ahri that receives so much attention for being OP rather than Yasuo. Why? Because her flash/ult + E combo isn't as predictable? Because Yasuo is more team reliant and hence doesn't work as well in solo queue? Because solo queue Yasuo's end up with all AD teams? Because Yasuo's flashy plays are more attractive to 'bad' players that bring down his win rate?

None of those are valid arguments - they're player decisions and have nothing to do with balance.

I just think it's time that Yasuo loses his double crit passive. Put more strength in to his kit elsewhere if necessary. With all the extra crit items in the game, he doesn't need that passive anymore. Even without the new warlords bloodlust mastery, he's unhealthy. Not to mention almost every new champion having a knockup since his release has given him a lot better chance of having help to set up his ultimate...

And after saying all of that, while I still thought Yasuo's kit was overloaded I was okay with him because you could take out his shield with an appropriate auto attack then engage while it was down and he had no means of regenerating in the early game. I've won the Ahri v Yasuo matchup a multitude of times. With the new masteries though, he's over the top...

I fail to grasp the reasoning behind the argument of counter picking not being a viable way to counter a champion. Champion select is supposed to be an integral part of League of Legends gameplay where simple coordination alone can determine the fate of the ensuing game. Just because you ENJOY playing a champion that will put up a sub par fight against the enemy laner, so you pick your champion rejecting another, better option, does not mean that it's the game's fault of fucking up balance. That's such dimwitted and skewed argument to make. The game revolves around adaptive strategy and divergent decision making that spans MUCH further past playing 2 champions that fare off poorly against a supposed "OP" champion.

I'm a very avid chess player. The knights are my favourite pieces on the chessboard. Try and guess what would happen to the game if I neglected all the other pieces at my disposal solely due to the fact that I enjoy making plays with my knights.

Riot has shown you your enemy, and the necessary weapons to kill him with. Just because you chose to bring a watergun to the fight because a watergun is more "fun" to play with doesn't make Riot the one with flawed standards. It's on you.

And AGAIN, you've missed the point entirely.

You don't ALWAYS get to pick after your lane opponent. In fact, HALF of the time you have to pick before your lane opponent.

Yasuo's simple existence makes more than half of the mid lane champion pool a large risk to take if the enemy mid laner hasn't yet picked. And guess what? They won't have picked because they may likewise want to play one of these champions are afraid of YOU picking Yasuo!

Having counters is a terrible argument to balance. It doesn't make sense. Bring it to an extreme: Introduce champion X and champion Y. Champion X super-hard counters all champions number 1-62 released in the history of league, so hard that it's guaranteed to win the game if it plays against any one of these champions in lane. Champion Y is equally OP against all champions released 63 and later (including X). They play the same lane.

These two champions would necessitate bans every game, as otherwise a team would always first pick Y if available (if the enemy picks X they win, if not they also pick X and send whichever one wins to that lane).

Of course this is an extreme and grossly simplified example, but it proves that having counters is a silly argument. Even if a majority of champions 1 to 62 counter champion Y, the champion is still grossly OP. Likewise champion X is grossly OP even if champion Y can immediately stomp on it and all champions 63+ can do well against it.

If we were playing against computer coded enemies and you got to know when you'd play against Yasuo he'd be fine. If you got a chance to switch your pick after a Yasuo was picked, he'd be fine. Neither of those are true though - sometimes you have to pick first and lock it in, and in this scenario there are a solid dozen champions you simply can't play because even a lesser skilled Yasuo will easily beat you if you pick them. The mere existence of one champion makes 12 champions disappear half the time, that's a net loss of [0.5*12 - 1 = ] 5 champions from the game for the effort of introducing 1 champion - a terrible design decision.

My main is one of his (many, and I mean many) hard counters. I guess I don't have much of a say however as I feel he is a very limited champion on terms of his Ult being locked to his 3rd q and his dash being locked to enemies. The only thing I can consider oppressive in his kit is his windwall as he can use it to shield quite a few powerful abilities without any repercussions.

That's a really dumb generalization, to say that "everyone else" whines too. And since only morons will fall into favor of such a moronic and inaccurate statement, especially without evidence, it only fortifies my own point even further haha. I mean there's such undeniable evidence that there are plenty of ways to play around him, namely, not playing champions that WILL get their bums spanked. But back to the point - do prove how "everyone else" also agrees with you.
