The removal of hunters potion shows how shattered the game's core concepts are

As lately accknowledged, riot thinks that hunters potion is a trap. Long story short, the company doesn't like junglers to be "passive"aka farming their jungle, thus everybody who buys this gets dumpstered goldvalue-wise 7 mins into the game, since respawn timers of creeps are so slow and also because summoners rift is the battle royale-influenced killfest that it has become via damage creep. There is a sad truth out there in leagues current form, speaking from the fact that you are forced to join the back-and-forth killfocused ARAM going on shortly after the game starts. You are in fact currently losing the game for your team if you shift the focus away from that to farming. Now, hunters potion is just another collateral damage showing itself: It once made sense, catalyzed diversity in champion pools and playstyle, and is now just completeley dysfunctional.

From the back of my head, the following are original game concepts that are shattered by seasons of unminded changes and unminded damage creep:

  • Jungle powercurve
  • earlygame/midgame/hypercarry powercurve
  • Champion mobility/drawback ratio
  • Ratio of dmg/tankiness as a whole which is often horrible nonsense, especially given respect to results of itemization
  • trading of dmg since everybody deals so much. This hurts laning as well as teamfights and results in the rng-like feel of whos winning teamfights/getting
enough dmg out of the gate in few seconds
  • Map macro is a shade of itself, because its tools got nerfed away and since cheesy kills can be made everywhere with the amount of dmg in the game
  • itemization has horrendous problems. One of the passed strategic aspects is the ability to counterbuild ad/ap, which is now a trap, just like hunters potion. Cheers! I would in fact love a test of runes reforged with 2015 items /item values, it would still be way too much dmg but a lot of things would feel better i suspect

tldr I think the company got scared by the success of fornite and pubg and ruined its own game by creating a battle royale oriented experience, which leaves no room for farming the jungle and thus hunters potion. I am uninstalling again. Its a painful and long progress, since my experiences with the game were so incomparable when i started in season 4. But the game is not playable for me anymore, i tried, and i am finally losing my last interests in it.

The item's been trash for years, though. Like, it was a trash buy since at least season 5. At best it's a crutch to help terrible jungling.

And it can't be made too strong because the way you handle junglers is to fight them while they're low from a camp. If they have an easy way to never be low they tend to have a lot less counterplay.
