I may have just answered my own question with him being picked in the lcs. But why are people playing Grag top? Always feels like an easy lane imo, and he's not very hard to gank. If he goes full tank he has zero kill potential. Anybody know why he's picked?
He is supposed to enable your team later but people pick what LCS players do for stupid reasons. The quicker people learn that the LCS has NOTHING to do with regular league of legends the game will get better. The skillcap on LCS players is higher than 99.99999999% than the rest of league players in the world and because of this they can pick whatever wherever they want. In addition Streamers have done this game a disservice by showing people that picking stupid shit is funny.
You don't find Gragas hard to gank?
He's a toplane tanky champ with loads of CC. Functions in teamcomps in a similar way to Nautilus.
nautilus and moakai got nerfed lowering their priority, plus he does decent against rumble and provides alot of cc

Maybe not against a tank, but against squishier targets, he certainly does.
