How do you play against a lane opponent who plays safe?

What do I do against a lane opponent who never wants to trade, and will only ever trade once they believe they have the advantage or when their jungler is near? This is increibly frustrating especially if I am playing against top laner who scales harder than I do. For example if I am playing Riven vs Jax, Fiora ,Tryndamere, or most especially Nasus . What on earth do I do?

Freeze the wave near your turret, or push to their turret and then roam to mid or invade jungle

These are your best options. If you and the jungle can both dive, you might be able to force something, but don't count on it.

If you can get minion advantage, try forcing a small trade. Slowly build up an advatage over time or at least keep him too defensive to do anything. When you think he can't follow, start the roams or invades.

yeah, if you can slow push and fight them in your wave, then you might be able to 1v2.....but in general, for low elo I'd say freeze or push and roam....

invade jungle

Just this. The jungler can't do shit as he is permanently 2 or more levels behind of you.

If your opponent is playing safe enough that you can't hit him, it means he isn't getting CS, which means you're doing your job perfectly. Just continue to zone.

don't worry about kills

Number 1 criticsm I received from friends this season is dying for doubles is actually not a good thing (I still do it impulsively sometimes, it just tastes so good)

Just outfarm the dude, and don't get ganked

Play an agressive champion, freeze wave, then turret dive when you can.

don't push, last hit only, draw them into the lane.
