Graves changes in 5.8?

So, I'm a little confused about the (as yet unofficial) change to Graves's Q. (Link above, scroll down one or two Teemos.)

I thought Graves was in a pretty good spot. He's strong early game and falls off late. He's good at burst but somewhat lacking in sustained damage (partly because of his range). He's powerful but not oppressive. Strong champion, but clear trade-offs and weaknesses.

So, now we're nerfing his burst? Why?

This isn't a "QQ my main adc can't steamroll unconditionally anymore" thing. I actually almost always prefer to play Quinn, who can't be reasonably accused of being OP. My friends do usually insist I play Graves, because he's the only adc who's tanky enough for the kind of stupid shenanigans I pull, but I wouldn't say I main him, and I don't want him to be OP. I just didn't think he was.

Also, the compensation he gets for hitting one target with more than one bullet—does that even mean anything? I don't think I've ever been able to pull that off. If it's possible, it requires invading their personal space more than I've been comfortable doing.

Don't play Graves, never cared to. Played against him a lot, though. Don't really care for his nerf, seems kind of un needed...

Played graves alot like 200 games over a 5 month period and I think he's kinda overpowerd. This nerf isnt that much anyways so he will still be good imo.

The thing was that he didn't really have any super bad matchups, could bully very hard, easy Q to land, snowballs very hard and doesn't off that hard lategame like people think (very good mobillity etc)

I mean this will just open op the botlane meta a little bit more so i'm happy with this change.

Just prove it on the pbe, feel like the same.

Well, he has more burst and a way better autoattack animation/steroids than Corki, who is also an early game champ. Difference is, graves is physical based so he doesn't fall off nearly as hard late game.

Graves is one of the strongest AD carries right now. He's doing very well. A nerf isn't out of line. If you dash into range of an enemy, you'll do similar damage, and that's a fine requirement for Graves. It is perfectly possible to hit someone with all 3 bullets, and 2 isn't hard.

He has trade-offs and weaknesses, but that doesn't mean he isn't overpowered. Shifting some damage from the full-range Q into the melee Q doesn't hurt him much. It's been done before, and it's always just a slight power decrease.
